WHITE LINESSSSSSSS

Governor Paterson has been on a truth-telling jamboree since he was sworn-in last week. This weeks nugget O' Truth -he used drugs as a young 20-something growing up in the 70's. From the NY1 interview with Dominic Carter:

Carter: Marijuana?
Paterson: Yes.
Carter: Cocaine?
Paterson: Yes.
Carter: You have used cocaine governor?
Paterson: I'd say I was about 22-23. I tried it a few times, yes.

HOLY CR@P! CLIENT 9!

"I'm not only the Governor, i'm also a client!"

As I'm sure most of you have heard already, our embattled Governor Eliot Spitzer has been linked to a high-cost prostitution ring by a Federal wiretap. According to the New York Times:

"...has been caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a high-priced prostitute at a Washington hotel last month, according to a law enforcement official and a person briefed on the investigation.

Stanley Slime gets Largest Fine ever by Conflict of Interest Board

Schlein

January 24, 2008 -- A longtime Bronx political operative has agreed to pay a $15,000 fine to settle charges that he used government resources for his private law practice while serving as chairman of the Civil Service Commission, officials said yesterday.

The settlement with Stanley Schlein, a behind-the-scenes fixture in city politics since the 1970s, was the largest ever recorded by the Conflicts of Interest Board.

Los Diaz: Holier Than Thou?

When taking a second look at the vote on the gay marriage bill in the Assembly on Tuesday, one can't help but notice that Assemblyman Ruben Diaz, Jr. voted against the bill. Now, this may not seem unusual, given his father's staunch opposition to this issue but, the question here is: Why? This is an Assemblyman who has an employee and a key fundraiser that are gay. And, the last time I checked, one or two of his close relatives (uncles) are also gay. It seems to me that the Diaz crew adheres to the motto “Do as I say, not as I do.”

Thompson Blunder?

According to today's Daily News:

a man swiped $3.6 million from a city bank account to purchase jewelry, electronics and even an SUV! The man was not caught until an $800,000 buying spree at Jewelry Television tipped off the company to alert JPMorgan about suspicious activity who, in turn contacted the Controller's office.

My question is, how could the Controller's office not find $3.6 million missing from a city bank account? This went on for over a year. We have to ask ourselves, how competent is Billy Thompson to be Mayor of this city if he cannot even control a city bank account? Can we trust him to negotiate a legitimate City budget year after year?
