3-2-1 ... Speculate!

Today's Clinton-for-SecState trial balloon should revive a lightning round of speculation (and maybe even some early premature lobbying as storylines collide) about whom Gov. Paterson might appoint to succeed her.

Let the reindeer games begin!

Leecia Eve.  Upstate.  Female.  Minority.

Hil is the UN ambassador, not the Secretary of State. Think Adlai Stevenson and Arthur Goldberg.  Replacing her is easy. The democrat Paterson most wants out of Albany is Andy Cuomo.

isn't it a problem that leecia eve has lived in maryland for a while?

besides, i don't see why paterson would feel any pressure to pick a black replacement. hispanic maybe (which would also boost latin0/democratic turnout and provide him a useful surrogate in 2010 when he needs to run again..)

He's from upstate, which hasn't sent someone to the Senate in forever, he's got a record of bipartisanship, is somewhat centrist, is very well-regarded, and has done amazing things for WNY throughout his political career. And I hear he's under consideration and would be interested.

From the "get them out of Albany" perspective, Sheldon Silver.  It would be Patterson's only chance of shaking up the state legislature.  Silver is too much like Schumer is terms of geography and demographics, but he would bring in more legislative experience than most freshmen Senators.

If Patterson doesn't want or need to do a "get them out of Albany" appointment, one of the upstate Congressmen, like Higgins or Hinchley, would seem to be best.

Suozzi.  Removes a threat, plays very well with centrist, suburban voters.  Might get Hillary's behind-the-scenes support.

Paterson will either pick someone to remove them from the political picture in Albany or bow to pressure from the bigger D Dems to pick a liberal Democrat who cow tows solely to their agenda in the U.S. Senate (and not New York's interests).

Also, the person has to be very media ready and good to go with fundraising deep pockets.

It could be Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand or Andrew Cuomo.

Hillary Clinton is one of the nation's most high profile female politicians.  I think replacing her with a man would send the wrong message.  There aren't enough women in the Senate for her seat to go to another man.  No, Hillary's replacement ought to be a woman.  The problem is that there are few if any prospective female politicians in the State who could even come close to her high profile in the job.

There is one that could though.  Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg.  Not only has she been increasingly politically active in recent years and is a close advisor to Barack Obama and would have the ear of the White House, but Caroline has lived in New York City for decades.  Add to that the fact that Hillary has her uncle Robert Kennedy's Senate seat, and her Uncle Ted in his last days in the Senate, and it makes sense.

Caroline Kennedy could get Hillary's seat and serve with Uncle Ted in his last days, and the country would be spared the idea ofa Kennedy-less Senate for the first time in fifty years.  She would be the new Senator Kennedy.  It fits.

There is more than energy futures traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and the New York Mercantile Exchange 642-456 exam.

Close one avenue for speculation and money flow moves to another avenue. Imagine 3 to 4 fold price increases in copper and aluminum 642-515 exam. Forget about building a new house or upgrading an existing electrical distribution system.

If the CFTC is to adopt position limits it should be broader based and by the same logic less stringent 642-533 exam. Unless of course you are Paul Krugman and believe that the futures markets do not affect prices.
