Draft (and House) Rock!OK, so here's a modest proposal floating around what I'll describe as Room Eight circles: Rock Hackshaw as the united opposition candidate in the 40th It's pretty clear that Matthieu will win again, probably in even more of a walk, if the 10-way race is simply re-run. So there are quiet talks already underway to present a unified opposition candidate; Jennifer James, the second-place finisher, is the obvious candidate, and I mean her no disrespect. (None intended to Eugene either, who will be the frontrunner under any scenario.) But ... well ... don't we kind of like the idea of a Hackshaw candidacy, perhaps on the "Actually Lives Here" party line? Now all that needs to be done is, er, convince him to move back to the district! Draft (and House) Rock!

Great idea! Someone needs to hand the Clarke's a defeat.
By the time the seat is filled it will be time for the next election.. The next go round should be --Ben Smith vs. "Run Rock Run" for City Council , now that's an horse race --at least you guys are both (still) in the district (I think) If it were resticted to bloggers who actually live in the district, it would be Ben v. Azi, not Rock.

Owens does not live in the district. And why was Rock, who now claims he favors residency requirements, so hopped up on the idea of imterloper Owens running in the 40th?
 In the congressional race last year, the law was plain; that's why I supported Yassky's right to run. As it relates to Matthieu Eugene, this is probably the only area that I can sympathize with him, given the history of Brooklyn's residency laws, and given cases like those of John O'Hara, Maurice Gumbs, Wellington Sharpe, Colin Moore and others; all of whom (at some time or the other) got caught up in residency issues in a legal/ litigous way.
If he (Eugene) resided there(in the district) by election day, and he can prove it, then it's simple: he will be seated. If his handlers think that's not the law, then they must know what they have to doto prove their position. I SAY NO MORE.
DAMN; WHY ARE YOU SO OBSESSED WITH ME? I told you before to leave me out of this, unless you are quoting accurately, things that I have said on this issue in the past. Have some respect please.
How dare you say that Chris Owens was an interloper? The law allowed you to run in a special election from outside the district, if you so chose. That's why we are stuck now, because the repercussions of those initial legal decisons have us all frozen. Chris has worked in this area for years and years and years, he is no interloper. That's why I dislike you anonymous bloggers at times; sometimes you are so irresponsible with what you say and write.
Rock, are we all going to go to the rally tomorrow as planned? Are we still meeting in front of Pace University a 12:00? I am glad you will be there I am dying to see you in person. Rock I heard you were going to introduce the group to your best friends the Clarkes.

Between now and the next council race in the 40th Rock will change his mind 62 times. Quit room 8 and start writing again 43 times. Make and break a deal with the Clarke's 23 times. He is my chooice for the next councilman from the 40th.
You wake up at 2;29 am to write this drivel. GEEZE. Why the fixation with me? I am who I am. I have never made deals with the Clarkes (and you know it), nor have I ever been in their inner-circles like you have tried to allude before; but as you have been working and trying so hard to discredit me here on Room 8 and on other blogs : KEEP ON TRYING. It would never succeed because my reputation is sterling and has been developed over decades. Has anyone ever asked you wether or not you are proud to be a coward and a wimp; willing to lie about someone, and personally attack them from behind your KKK mask? How do you look in the mirror? How do you sleep at night? You are a wasted piece of floating protoplasm. You are nothing but human-excrement masking as a human being. Do us all a favor and drop off this site.
Rock, in all due respect, you need to calm down. These people are trying to rile you up, and everytime you call them human excrement, you're making them happy. The best way to deal with bullying is to ignore it, not encourage it. Everyone who is serious knows not to trust what anonymous bloggers say, especially as it relates to you. I think that if you stopped responding to anonymous bloggers they would be more inclined to leave you alone. You're a great asset to the blogging community, and it would be a shame to let these people drive you out, just because you couldn't keep your cool.
Of course, this is preposterous. What one requires in a unity candidate should be: 1) Someone who will not have lived in the district a shorter time than Eugene by the time the election takes place. This disqualifies both Rock and Chris Owens. Yes, I know all the arguments why this should not matter, and all the distinctions with Eugene, but why muddle the message? 2) Someone who won't inspire an ethnic turf war.
