Noach Dear, Still Running

I just noticed, in the body of Jerry Skurnik's invaulable roundup, that Noach Dear -- late of the City Council, and of failed races for Congress and State Senate -- is running for judge.

You really can make a career of running for office, it seems.

The implications of his candicacy could be great in Central Brooklyn Black Politics.  Yes, sounds crazy, but if Noach Dear wins a seat on the bench he would not run for Kevin Parker's senate seat, which Councilman Kendall Stewart is looking at, in what should be an old fashioned low down, dirty Brooklyn race.  However if Dear loses this race, he may run yet again for Senate and could quite possibly be in the best position to win, because Kendall and Kevin would split the black vote, and "Noah" would still have much of his 40% which he got last time around. Interesting stuff.

He's going to be elected Judge. The demographics of who turns out in the area covered in the judicial district favor an Orthodox candidate. Noach's friends on the Ortho community want him to win, and his enemies want him to win more, so he won't run for Simcha Felder's Council seat.

In 1995 Dov Schmidt won a solid majority against two locals with solid community credentials and many friends in the non-Ortho part of the District. Dear's opponent is a well qualified former judge, but she lives in Manhattan and knows about three people in the district, two of whom are backing her. Since 95, the district has gotten more Ortho, and Italians have moved by the car load leaving non-voting Chinese, Latinos and Russians.

Nonethless, Noach being Noach, the fact Dear will wwin won't necessarily keep him from running for Council or Senate.

I think that raising campaign cash is Dear's only source of income.  That's why he keeps running for things.

While the ortho vote is important, it seems to me that he's even gotten on most of their nerves too, and I'm not sure he will take 100% of that voting block.

The fact that Dear's gotten on so many nerve's is why the Ortho community wants him safely tucked away on the bench.

Oy, do they misunderstand the damage he'll do there!

Whether or not Dear wins the judgeship, he's not going to win the  State Senate seat (as he hasn't atleast twice before). The people who say he will are relying on the overused racial  explanation for politics that has led the Times' Jonathan Hicks to predict that David Yassky would be the congressperson from the 11th CD, John Sampson would be Brooklyn DA and Cynthia Dodds would replace Bill Perkins on the City Council.

Not everyone votes on the basis of race and a lot of white people  can't stand Noach Dear who is small minded and had a miserable record on the City Council.

11:59: Noach's a toad, but he will be running against Kevin Parker and Kendall stewart, so miserable records will be in full supply all across the spectrum.

Noach Dear can win this race for judge and that's frightening. The voters need to be reminded that he was reprimanded by the Attorney General for setting up a charity for personal use. He used the nonprofit's money for personal expenses, like travel. He had to pay back $37,000. And his congressional campaign was involved in campaign finance fraud. Dear is only concerned with serving himself. Is this the type of guy we want on the bench? What a bad name he gives the Jewish community...
