Obama, RunningIf I was writing for a newspaper this week, I'd probably be sticking this in there -- but in any case: Barack Obama has spent the last few days calling friends, select elected officials, and likely major donors to tell them he's running for president, according to a Democratic source. He's also begun an Internet advertising campaign to build interest in his candidacy -- another sign that, at this point, his deliberation isn't much more than a pose. Looks like it'll be a fun year.
Air Force One
Ben, I'm certainly not going to vote for him, but my advice for you is, as part of this whole politico.com thing, get youself assigned to the Edwards campaign -- it is the best bet for you to find yourself in the white house briefing room and on Air Force One in two years.

my bets are hedged: I'm going to be covering the whole Democratic field. One of them is virtually guaranteed to be the Democratic nominee! And, to hedge further, i'll keep an eye on Bloomberg.
