Una Doubles Down on Eugene

A Brooklynite passes on an email that went out to Una Clarke's list, announcing a Thursday City Hall rally to demand in the language of civil rights that Matthieu Eugene be seated.

"Representation delayed is Representation denied! This is an
un-precedented situation, and we believe that there is no reason to deny the immediate seating of our elected representative," says the email from Una.

"Representation delayed is Representation denied!"

WHAT? Can someone please REMIND the Clarkes that the reason representation by their horse has been delayed is because FINALLY someone listened to those who spoke out about Eugene's non-residency in the 40th!

If Eugene's representation is denied, it will only happen because he lied about is final residency! You don't go on TV and say you've been living in an apartment prior to being elected when days earlier you state that you still do not live in the district! COME ON! Does "Una-Gene" really think the voters in the 40th is gonna stand by and allow this occur?

I'm really getting tired of this whole situation....I truly hope that non-Eugene supporters come out to that rally and be the anti-voice about an obvious loop-hole in this election that shouldn't have happened.

Fair representation for the 40th district must come from someone who lives in the district and was elected legally.  How is it fair for the Clarkes to import a candidate from Canarsie who didn't even have the good sense to move into the district and establish legal residence before the election.  We do need a City Council person from the 40th,  not an import.

She seems to be conceding, by calling this rally, that he is indeed not a resident and that pressure from her supporters can force his seating.  I wonder how many of those who will attend this rally will be residents of the 40th.  Maybe the Dr. will bus them in from Canarsie?  I hope that the news media questions those attending as to their residence (before February 20th of course).

If Council submitts to this preassure they will certainly have to address this matter in the courts.

UNA: I SHARED THIS WITH MY FRIENDS AND THEY ALL AGREE THAT JUSTICE IN THIS CASE DEMANDS A NEW SPECIAL ELECTION!  RALLYING FOR AN UNJUST CAUSE WILL ACCOMPLISH NOTHING OTHER THAN DIMINISH WHAT LITTLE CREDIBILITY THE CLARKES STILL HAVE.

UNA: WILL YOUR PATRON GEORGE PATAKI BE THERE?

I hear that Ambassaor Joel Toney is chartering at least one bus to bring 40th CD residents to the rally. It's the CAPETBAGGER EXPRESS.

See I don't get this.  All Eugene has to do is show his lease, and the effective date on the lease.  Not the date he signed the lease, because he could have signed it well ahead of time, but the date the lease took effect.  If it says effective date February 1st or any date before election day, he was a legal resident of the district. No more problem.  Swear him in.  But he won't show it to anyone.  He has been asked by multiple reporters and says his lawyer won't allow him to show his lease, or even the part that has the dates on it.  So instead he has Una organizing this rally which will portray not seating him as a racial issue?!

Way to be.  Let's hold a rally to legalize the illegal results of an election.  She's ridiculous.

A friend from the 40th just Emailed me the link to this story.  I don't beleive it.  It's a spoof.  She wouldn't do such a thing and make a fool of herself after the embarrasment this election caused.

I really hope someone (and only one) presents a serious challenge to Yvette next year. She should not be allowed to consolidate her power.

This is rediculous. How dare she criticize Yassky for being a carpetbagger and then supporting an outsider in this race?

And now her mother is rallying in favor of breaking election law.

At least it seems like Quinn is doing the right thing and holding out, and letting everyone see just how hypocritical the Clarke's are.

This is a slap in the face of the community that has made her a millionaire. She and her non degree having lying daughter need to go. RESIDENTS OF THE 40th DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Let the courts sort this mess out.

Will Dr. Eugene show his mysterious lease at the rally?

Why didn't the Clarkes rent their puppet an apartment and move him in in January?

Weiner said I NY1 that Eugene had a lease befor election day.  Lets ask him if he saw the lease.

Una will you release you tax returns for the last 5 years.  Lets see how much money you make working as a republican for Pataki.

How come Eugene gave $1500 to Republican State Senator Marty Golden last year when he had no primary or democrat challenger in the general election?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 03/06/2007 - 1:46pm.

He gave to Golden?  Even if he did live in the district, that'd make me vote against him.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 03/06/2007 - 1:54pm.

Funny how many of the same "reformers", including Hackshaw, were on the other side when it was people like Marty Connor and Nick Perry raising the residency issue. Back then the cry was "let the people decide!"

Matheiu is a $3 bill. But so are most of those who are screaming the loudest

And Joel Toney better cast a wide net to fill his bus; if he only invites those who voted for him there will be a lot of empty seats.

Submitted by NOT FROM CANARSIE (not verified) on Tue, 03/06/2007 - 2:40pm.

First the Clarkes groom Ambassador Toney for the position, then they trade Haitian votes for Yvette in the Congressional race for an endorsement of a non-certified Haitian Dr. from Canarsie, then they organize a rally to urge the Council to seat a Canarsie man in a Flatbush seat.  When will this end?

They've really dissed the people of Flatbush.

Le Dr. a gagné la course. Qui s'inquiète s'il vit en dehors de de la zone. Ce qui importe est qu'il est du Haïti et un homme noir. Pour voter pour Clarke elle nous a promis un Haïtien.

The Dr. won the race.  Why do you worry if he lives outside of the zone.  The important thing is that he is Haïtian and a black man.  When the Haitian community voted for Clarke, she promised us a Haitian successor.

To the comment at 1:54 pm. Please leave me out of this. Unless you can quote from my writings exactly what my position is on this issue, then LEAVE ME OUT. I wrote two articles on residency last year. Go back and pull them out. Read them first before you say shit like " let the people decide". The articles are right here under my blog. Scroll to bloggers (left), then click on my name. After my profile comes up, click on Rock Hackshaw's blog, then find the two articles I wrote on residency. NOWHERE have you ever heard me say that which you claim in your comment. Residency laws were written by incumbents to frustrate insurgents, to make lawyers rich and also to self-perpetuate. However, there should be residency laws. It's a bit hypocritical (to me) to see the Clarkes who went after David Yassky last year-as a carpetbagger in the congressional race- to now come back here and support someone from outside the district, just a few months later. I remember taking flack for defending Yassky's right to run in the race last year. I was one of the first blacks to do this. As much as I agree that Matthieu Eugene won the race handily, the Attorney General has spoken. If he and the Clarkes know (before their God)that Eugene got the wrong advice (like other candidates in the race), as to when they actually had to move into the district; and if he wasn't LEGALLY (with many connotations to this definition) residing in the district on the day of the elections, then they need to stop this circus. His chances of winning a re-run (which were quite good on 2-21-07)are diminsihing with every hour that they keep up the circus, and not find the necessary closeure for all this. The lying and flip-flopping just makes it worse.

Rock (Gandalf),

Before you sail off from Middle Earth (or is it Middle Flatbush), you must leave behind some written analysis about the political war that consumes the 40th for the Council seat (the one ring). Many of us have waited (some pleaded) for your final analysis about the recent election.

What is to become us who are left behind (please match)

a. the all-seeing eye    1. Dr. Eugene

b. the trolls                 2. Una

c. the orcs                  3. Yvette

d. the Nazgul              4. NYC Council

e. Frodo                     5. Haitian Community

f. Gollum/Smeagol      6. Paul Wooten/Scott Levenson

You must give us some clarity before everyone gathers at the Black Gate on Thursday.

It took a Haitian Dr. from Canarsie to bring down the Clarke regime.  It is now too late to recessitate the political careers of the Dr. or the Clarkes.  Let the Dr. run again so that he and his patrons will see what Flatbush voters think of this ongoing circus.

If I wanted a Canarsie City Council person I would have moved to Canarsie.

Judging by the number of responses here, that's what it will take to keep political blogs alive until 2008. One two months from now, and another in November!

And perhaps we should move up the Presidential Primary to December 2007.

Last comment in response to "translation".  We don't elect people to office solely based on their ethnicity, no matter where they live and who they may represent.  It is a nice thought, if we all lived in lala land.  Dr. Eugene, yes, is a nice man and I am sure has the Haitian community's best interest at heart.  But he is not qualified and has broken rules that could have easily been avoided.  And then lied about it and still has not presented the evidence to dispute that.  I am going to presume the person putting up the post may have at one time lived in Haiti, and for that I can understand the sentiment.  Our Democratic process far trumps their regime. Nevertheless, it is a process and it does have rules.  I feel bad for Dr. Eugene that no one in his camp took the proper precautions  and looked out for his best interest, only their own.  That is a shame.

Can a rally intimidate Quinn?  No.  She's committed to the course she's taken, but should determine the case quickly, in the next day or two.  That'll be responsive to the "representation" claim, which resonates in the case of a special.

Beside all that ii wonder how many of you ever see Eugene without the old lady answering question for him.Am haitian when i listen to some of the eugene interview what he consistently said  the "Clarks suppote me". I thought he might have had some language difficulty but he does the same thing when they interview him in Kreol. I Eugene is the representation haitian could have in a political level (or the 40th district could ever had) some of you might not know Eugene doesn't have the entire Haitian community support because Luna as step on somany of us toes we discusting by they action. Looney Una has truly lost it and her daughter is lost in the hallwas of the Capitol. If I was them I could call my own press conference and apologize for turning the 40th into the laughing stock of the city. Then I would apologize to the Haitians for picking an inarticulate boor to represent Central Brooklyn.  This mess will have consequences to people whose time has come.

You know good people although we all have very strong views on this issue and even stronger views on the leadership in the 40th and its surrounding areas, the bottom line is that 2 and 1/2 months have gone by and nobody represents the 40th.  The people in that area are paying taxes and are receiving no services from either their city representative or their federal representative and that my friends is a crying shame.  The people f the 40th need to sue the City Council, the Mayor and the Board of Elections, NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENATION!!

Get over and do some freaking organizing in your nab if you think the person elected is not the right person.  But all this cry baby talk is not about just about loosing, the anger is rooted in some racist bullshit against hatians.
