The Senate, House, Governor's Mansion: An In-Depth Survey of Polling

THE ABRIDGED VERSION (SENATE): Democrats will pick up: Montana, Ohio, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania.

Democrats will keep: New Jersey, Michigan, Washington, Maryland, Minnesota

Republicans will keep: Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia, Arizona

Note: Democrats will take four seats and, since idiots in Connecticut support Lieberman, come two votes shy of snagging the Senate. They could take Missouri and make off with five seats, plus two independents caucusing with the Dems lead to a sort of “majority.” Less likely are Tennessee and Virginia, which would it a real one.

A not at all comprehensive, but still exhaustive, guide to November 7th follows...

The Final Nail?

NY Post (Fred Dicker): PIRRO STEERED D.A. CONTRACT TO KERIK
SHE 'WORKED FOR FAVORS' AS AIDE FRETTED OVER ETHICS

While she was Westchester district attorney, Jeanine Pirro steered a no-bid contract to Bernard Kerik and Rudy Giuliani's security firm, rebuffing protests about the arrangement, The Post has learned. The 2004 contract was ordered despite Pirro being warned by a lawyer in the DA's Office that it might be illegal or unethical to award a contract in that way. It also came in the face of protests over the cost of the deal by the private company that had to pay Kerik and Giuliani, a source close to the case told The Post...

Yassky and another non-endorsement

Every once in a while, David Yassky shows his true colors in spectacularly idiotic fashion. Read the bottom of this note and tell me if you think David Yassky will have good constituent services...

Dear Park Slope Neighbor,

1) Endorsement Confusion

Yesterday, residents of Park Slope received in their mailboxes a letter endorsing City Councilmember David Yassky in the race for the 11th Congressional District.  The letter arrived in an envelope with a Park Slope return address, and the sender was identified as "Park Slope Neighbors."  The heading on the letter read "Park Slope Neighbors for David Yassky."

Buddy's Buddies (okay, some endorsements)

    NOW I'm inspired...

I thought I'd do things a little different, though... I thought I'd rank my endorsements by how excited I am for them to win.

    1. Chris Owens. No question, the most passionate candidate in New York politics, regardless what those right-wing nuts at the New York Times think. Has been seen convincing a crowd full of mostly Yvette supporters to immediately change their votes with his unbeatable ad-libbed remarks. He made David Yassky look like an uncomfortable, inexperienced pipsqueak during the NY1 debate. Anyone choosing between Yvette and Owens are obviously not paying attention to her campaign and the candidate's complete incompetence or inability to tell the truth or have a single original thought. And Carl Andrews-- my God, Mario Cuomo just endorsed him. Does the guy have any endorsements that weren't part of the Spitzer package? Has he inspired anyone to rush out to the polls and vote for HIM?

Subway Showdown!

On Franklin Avenue tonight, David Yassky and Chris Owens are duking it out for turf-- literally. I meant for turf literally, not duking it out literally.

Anyway, both are at the large Franklin Ave subwy stop as we speak, both covering the entrances/exits with their staff and volunteers, both trumpeting today's poll, which shows them tied.

From my five minutes there:

James Caldwell was walking around and spotted by a Chris Owens staffer, who is black (just thought I'd mention that, not that it's relevant, but I'm trying to be like all the other geniuses who have to mention somebody's race in the first few lines of any story about this campaign.)

It's a Tossup, Folks

The 11th CD is in a statistical tie, with everyone hovering around 20% and 22% undecided.

Does anyone know who conducted the poll? Ratner? Who hires Tom Kiely? 1199 ever use him?

It would help determine who they were pushing for, although it doesn't mean they pushed for anyone. I think from what I've heard, they didn't do biographies, just asked point blank who the called person supported, which is really the only fair way to do it and get a scientific result.

For the comments section: who do you believe will pick up the 22% in the last five days (or, better yet, how will it be split? One thing to note is that polling ended on Monday, so it was conducted over the weekend.)

The Dropout Should Drop Out

In 2004, Yvette Clarke lied about having the New York Times endorsement.

In May, she lied about having the Emily's List endorsement (the organization denied it and didn't endorse until months later.)

Recently, she was caught lying about having graduated from college, a claim she swore to in a voter guide, which is punishable by law.

Following that, it was revealed she did not include up to $75,000 in income and/or net worth on a personal disclosure form. It is believed that this is likely also punishable by law.

Maurice Gumbs and Rock Hackshaw have respectfully asked her to withdraw from this race. I will now add my name to that growing list of bloggers and other people paying attention.

Assassination Attempt?

Someone posted this on a mailing list I belong to. I'm shocked this hasn't been picked up in the media. It may not be NY, but it is disturbing news and you won't read it anywhere else...

Tish James Scandal (#2)?

Does anyone know any details about the alleged Tish James scandal that's breaking? I heard third-hand that a radio station announced something about Councilmember James being in trouble over a trip to Jamaica.

More Where That Came From

Chris Owens

Gawker has been talking about this (but I don't link to outside websites as a rule-- it takes you away from all the other excitement going on here.)

chrisowens.com is apparently some other guy named Chris Owens. Gawker seems to think Chris Owens, the candidate, has a lot of time on his hands and has recently been on a photo essay assignment all over the freakin' world, including Austrailia.

Introducing myself and dumping some info on you

I work in Brooklyn and people in politics have been giving me info that hasn't been making the papers... I thought I'd blog the hell out of them...

Hakeem, Carl, and Tish James?

The tabloid daily papers have been working on a story which I will break here instead.

Letitia James has lent out her Deputy Chief of Staff to Hakeem Jeffries and Carl Andrews to help on their respective campaigns... while on city time and the city dime. Unethical? Illegal?? Let us hear it in the comments section...

Jesse Hamilton and Chris Owens

Jesse Hamilton, running for the Assembly in the 43rd, who unendorsed David Yassky in Brooklyn's 11th CD, has been out campaigning with Chris Owens. Speaking of Senator, I mean, Congre-- I mean, Councilman Yassky ...
