As I wrote in December 2006 on this blog, and further to Yoda's post today, Mike Bloomberg keeps saying he's not running, but the media keeps the story alive that he is. The stories always say his staff is perpetuating it and "laying the groundwork" for getting on the ballot. If this is true, who's dime are these staffers working on?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these would be mayoral/City staff, right? These people who are supposedly "laying the groundwork" for his run, are they doing this on City time, is Mike paying them personally when they are not working, or are we supposed to believe that these City staffers are after work volunteers for a non-campaign?

Or maybe, he's not running, like he's been saying for about a year and a half now.
