CONGRESSMEN MEEKS AND WEINER BESTOW CONGRESSIONAL RECOGNITION UPON ALBERT BALDEO AND OTHERS AT GALA EVENT.http://www.albertbaldeo.com/news118.htm Congressmen Gregory Meeks and Anthony Weiner headlined an awards and outreach empowerment event sponsored by the United Communities Alliance, and recognized and thanked several community, business and labor leaders at the Fairfield Pavilion in Richmond Hill, Queens last Friday evening. The occasion brought together many diverse groups from throughout the Queens area to celebrate the accomplishments and significant contributions of elected, professional, community and business leaders for their tireless commitment to serving the community. Other public officials who attended the event, or were represented, included State Senator Joe Addabbo, Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer, Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, Councilman Eric Gioia, Councilman John Liu, Councilman Eric Ulrich and Councilman James Sanders. The honorees, truly reflective of the talents, origins and heritage which distinguishes Queens as the most diverse county in the USA, were Albert Baldeo, Victoria Schneps-Yunis, Blair Burroughs, Bob Monahan, Mark Weidler, Dr. Philip Baldeo, Mendra Singh, Lou Kirchgessner, Anthony Gellineau, Gary Comorau, Baldath Ramdeen and Don Desmond.President of the United Communities Alliance, Albert Baldeo, said that the organization seeks to empower and improve the quality of life of residents living in Queens. Its goals are to consolidate residents of the district into active participation for the betterment of the district, to develop coalitions of neighborhood organizations and groups, to foster a greater civic voice for the community, to solve issues and problems confronting neighborhoods, and to translate civic activity into positive activity.
