Gatemouth Issues Apology For Getting Facts Wrong About Working Families Party: They Do Not Mislead Voters; They Straight Out Lie
Yesterday I criticized the Working Families Party (WFP) for a number of failings; among other things, I accused the WFP, in their effort to obtain the 50,000 votes cast on their line for Governor they would need to retain their ballot status, of misleading voters by printing a statement from Cindy Sheehan which implied she advocated a straight ticket vote for the WFP, when in actuality she had endorsed the Green Party candidate for US Senate, Howie Hawkins. This was true, as far as it goes, but highly misleading, and I apologize. It turns out that Sheehan has not only endorsed Hawkins, but also the Green Party candidate for Governor, Malachy McCourt. The whole effort to paint her as supporting the WFP is a lie. My only consolation is that I posted my scoop about Sheehan supporting Hawkins at 6:51 last night, and it took until 6:54 today for anyone in the mainstream press to pickup the story. Of course, once Liz Benjamin did so, she blew me out of the water. Hopefully, her story will blow away the WFP as well. WFP last year also quashed their Endorsement Committee's 95% favorable vote for an insurgent City Council candidate by having the Executive Committee take the rare step of issuing a veto. WFP leadership says that the Endorsement Committee makes the final decisions. Thats not so! Buying Bertha a meal is the best way to go as opposed to arguing silly inconsequential things like "issues." You stayed on top of this Gate and I am not voting WFP. Thanks. Bertha Lewis and Dan Cantor are embarrassments. As I point out <a href=http://dailygotham.com/blog/bouldin/greens_attack_working_families>here</a>, WFP has authorization to use the images and the statements provided by all three. The conflict, if I had to make aa guess, originates with Sheehan.
