Reading Storobin's Mind: "No, I wouldn't run over MY GRANDMOTHER to get elected; my grandmother is dead." Election Day Craziness In Storobin-Fidler Race www.cityandstateny.com
Ho hum, Storobin lied about something Jewish (part 962).
For once, I won't criticize Rock for breaking the "Markowitz is running for Congress" rumor. I myself had gotten indications that a white candidate was likely to enter the race, and the cryptic nature of those rumors and where they came from indicated it was Markowitz.
1) Though the Brownstone area has been diminished in this district, Atlantic Yards has still considerably weakened Markowitz there. Even though Clarke is not anti-Ratner, I think she would have been the default anti-Ratner choice.
2) A Rock pointed out, Sylvia Kinard is a weak candidate, and (as he didn't point out) weak candidates don't effectively split the black vote
3) While Markowitz has always had formidable black support, but I'm not sure it carries to a race against a black incumbent (and neither apparently was he).
Most important was something I didn't raise: has anyone ever seen any indication that Markowitz has even the slightest interest in national issues, or in going from the center ring of a small circus to a junior position in a chorus of 435? Survey finds: -By contrast 44% of voters have a favorable opinion of Barack Obama's treatment of dogs to 14% with an unfavorable one. Apparently voters think he's taking good care of Bo. Asked who would be a better President for dogs, 37% of voters pick Obama to 21% for Romney with 42% not holding an opinion either way.
-68% of voters think it's inhumane to put your dog in a kennel on the roof of your car to only 14% who consider it humane. ...
-Whether this is really an issue that's going to hurt Mitt Romney in the campaign is a different question though. 55% of voters say it makes no difference to their vote, while 35% say it makes them less likely to vote for Romney and 7% more likely."
More likely?
