NY GOP News Alert: Weekly Republican Update - June 25, 2010

Republican UpdateFellow New Yorker,

Another week in Albany without a budget - but naturally more borrowing and more taxes from the Democrats.  While Andrew Cuomo and Albany Democrats continue to defend the indefensible, our Republican candidates spent the week speaking directly to the needs of New Yorkers.  Rick Lazio highlighted how New York City Democrats are providing tax credits to Hollywood, while doing nothing to resurrect our upstate economy.  Harry Wilson exposed Tom DiNapoli's fuzzy math with respect to our pension system and offered his own solutions to ensuring a solvent system while protecting the taxpayer.  Our state legislators continued to fight for real budget cuts that would help close the deficit and rein-in spending.  It's been a busy week for the Republican cause.  Read more about each of these efforts and more below.

Dear Mr. Gustin,

As a longshot guess--when health care goes into effect, many accountants are suggesting to their small business owners there will be a need to cut staff  20% to offset expected increases in regards to the added costs of health care benefits to employees. But maybe water, taxes (all), gas, electric and rents will go down 20% in the near future to offset. So the millions set to lose benefits might increase as long term policy takes it toll.

A war and what victory?

To The New York Times
In response to the “opinion editorial” regarding the dismissal of our General, and his willingness to die for his soldiers and vice versa as being all wrong.  In Germany, we were willing to die for a specific reason-Freedom; we saw and lived what the Germans’ were doing as the Master Race.  We did not go into Germany with bows and arrows fighting an enemy that had machine guns, and when Japan hit home on our soil...  Setting politics aside, if war is war then let us do it modern day-- in the air, where loss of lives could be prevented.  On the ground warfare in a foreign country has become a modern day civil war where far too many lives are lost, but in this case victory will be shallow.
