Statement by Speaker Christine C. Quinn
Re: Public Authorities Control Board Approval of Javits Center Expansion

I commend the Public Authorities Control Board for its leadership and its approval of this project. With the expansion of the Javits Center, we will no longer lose vital economic opportunities, we will secure thousands of permanent new jobs and we will gain tens of millions of dollars in additional city and state revenue.

The expansion of the Javits Center is one of the most important things we can do for the economy of this City. The Javits Center expansion and modernization project will secure New York City's future with economic opportunity and will bring New York City's rank up to where it belongs: as one of the top five convention centers in the country.
