Is He Ready to Put His Money Where His Mouth Is?It appears, and you can quote me, that the Trump loving, somewhat brash ad guru, Donny Deutsch, has finally settled on a run for Mayor in 2009. Thaaaaat's right! Mayor of the City of New York. Seemingly bolstered by the phenomenal success of his monied buddy Mayor Mike, sources say Deutsch let loose some thoughts on his campaign for Mayor at a forum last night sponsored in part by the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. Though the forum was billed as an evening of networking and conversation with Donny - where he would "share the ups and downs of his incredible career as well as share his colorful opinion on some hot topics of today" - the event apparently came off more as just another opportunity for the Donster to practice his stump. Donny waxed poetic on a wide range of topics and personalities, including Senator Clinton (whom he luuuuuuuuvs and funded; but nonetheless says the country is not ready for a woman President) to 9/11 (because of which, if elected Mayor, he will spend every waking moment worrying about the safety of our kids) to Mayors Giuliani and Bloomberg (both of whom he considers to be brilliant Mayors). Deutsch's remarks come after years of dropping not-so-subtle-hints of his plans to run for Mayor. In 2003, the Donald (not Trump) told New York Magazine that he's "ready to play on a bigger field," in response to being asked if New York City would like a Mayor named Donny. And just last year, Deutsch told Fortune Magazine, "I really believe that I will be mayor of New York some day," and concluded that thought by saying, "I know I have the financial resources to do it." KACHING! Thank you, Mayor Donny? Drive thru! Post new comment |
