The City Mouthpiece and the Country MouthpieceThe story is told of a Court Street personal injury lawyer, eating lunch at Mr. Souvlaki and running into a former law school classmate now practicing in Suffolk County who's trying a PI case in Brooklyn. “I’m trying this case and I’m winning it”, said the Country Mouthpiece, “but I know I’ll be reversed by the Appellate Division because the record’s a mess; I think the judge has Alzheimer’s”. “So”, said the City Mouthpiece, “you’re in front of Ruditzky.” Political junkies will have field day with the details of Wayne Barrett’s expose of alleged judgeship buying in Brooklyn. Barrett's article has practically every salacious detail of the sale of a judgeship in 2001 to brain dead hack Howard Ruditzky. Every detail but one. To Barrett’s credit he notes that Brooklyn Democratic Party Secretary Stevie Cohn, no Barrett favorite, spoke against Ruditzky’s elevation at a meeting of the Party’s District Leaders; however he forgets to mention the name of one other District Leader who courageously got up to speak against Ruditzky’s elevation in the face of County Leader Clarence Norman’s insistence that the deal be done. That Leader was Vito Lopez. Judge Gerald Garson, Judge Robin Garson, Judge Michael Garson, and Judge Ruditzky all appear to have committed serious crimes. Jeff Feldman actually ran the Kings County Democratic Party, was involved in the leadership of the Democratic Party long before Clarence got involved. Jeff probably knows the details of every act of patronage and bribery going back to before Howard Golden. Clarence Norman, as it turns out, is just a thief and a cheap, stupid hustler. But four judges who stand in the place of God have betrayed the people of Kings County. It now looks like these four rogues will all be offered immunity, and never see the inside of a jail cell. Meanwhile, Clarence Norman, who is already sentenced to six years in jail is now the scape-goat whom Charles Hynes has chosen to suffer for the crimes of 4 Judges and Clarence's chief advisor and brain. It is better that Clarence rot in jail than to have 4 judges prosecuted and serve time. Better for political relationships, social relationships, and for fund-raising. Has this entire exercise been intended just to mete out the severest punishment to a single rogue politician, while giving leniency to criminal judges? Is Clarence Norman the Devil who made these judges do it? But then, after all, as a Black man, Clarence will feel a lot more at home in jail than these other nice people, won't he? My understanding is that Cohn and Lopez were angling for two different guys.
Interesting that the anecdote pictures Ruditzky as so anomolous that he was readily identifiable. Perhaps the picture's not as bleek as its been made out to be.
Don't forget that same year - 2001, Joe Hynes was running for re-election as DA and he shareed political support - palm cards, endorsements and county supplied election lawyers with Ruditsky.
You really make it seem so easy together with your presentation however I to find this matter to be actually something that I think I might by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and extremely extensive for me. I am looking forward for your subsequent publish, I'll attempt to get the cling of it!
hcvG9w Really appreciate you sharing this article.Much thanks again. Fantastic.

Hackensack: Your story about Vito Lopez and Stevie Cohen speaking out against Clarence Norman at a Democratic Party meeting is interesting. However, I think you would agree that is should take more than just the statement of an anonymous writer to convince any of us out here that it is true. I mean, were you personally at this meeting? Can you think of a way to verify it? Maybe to have an insider like Lew Fidler back up your statement?
Another thing. I suspect that Vito and Stevie had a candidate ? And I imagine that their candidate for judge was prepared to show his gratitude just like Mr. Ruditzky and his cousin were. So if Vito and Stevie spoke out against Clarence's choice, are you sure that it was out of courage? And is it possible that it was the same kind of courage that Vito showed when he got a Republican governor to appoint his daughter as a judge? Or the courage he showed when he arranged to get a judgeship for the brother of a very dear female friend?
