Eric Gioia for Public Advocate!

While Eric Gioia has yet to declared which office he will be seeking in 2009, we all suspect he will run for Public Advocate and HE HAS MY FULL SUPPORT.

I think that Eric has proven to be a true leader and after meeting him (briefly) a few weeks ago, I truly believe that New Yorkers will be better off with him as our Public Advocate.

As I have expressed to him, I see a possible Mayoral candidate in 2013 or 2017.

So there you have it folks: I'm fully endorsing Eric Gioia for Public Advocate!

David Yassky is better suited for PA. He was fighting for hybrid cabs and traffic plans before either became fashionable. He is the brightest guy in council. Gioia- smart, polished- but doesn't have an ounce of the sophistication, intelligence and acumen of David Yassky. Gioia is all flavor-of-the-week and into gimmicks. Yassky tackles substance even if he doesn’t earn attention. Having said all that, Gioia may be more electable that David.

Are you kidding me?  You meet the guys for 2 minutes a few weeks ago and he impressed you enough to endorse?  Like any of us give a shit if you did.  How important do you think you are?  And let me be clear, I am not knocking Eric, I have no probelm with him.  But I also don't think that he gives two shits that an unknown from the Bronx is endorsing his candidacy for whatever on a blog.

Do me and others a favor Haile and save your endorsements until you become a player in the game, not just some antagonoizer with delusions of grandeur about winning a seat.

I usually do not reply to ignorant comments such as this. I do respect your opinion though. At least I have the courage to say who I am and not post as an anonymous. I post the blog to start a conversation on this and see what others are thinking as well. And I'm not asking what they think of me but of the candidate. Clearly, you must be new to the blog or I really ticked you off because in this blog, we all respect each other, even if we disagree at times. I ask you to continue blogging but be more educated about it. Also, do not underestimate this (or other) blogs. If you have not noticed, Room 8 has become one of the most visited blogs by elected officials, such as State Senators Diaz, Serrano, Krueger and others. Thank you.

John Liu has raised more money todate than all the other candidates mentioned above, COMBINED. He's going for PA and with all the money he's got, he'll get the nomination

Your comment that Gioa would make a good mayoral candidate in 2013 is actually quite disconcerting. The public advocate's office could be an incredible boon for the city if it wasn't treated as a stepping-stone to the mayoralty, and a sinecure at that, for well-connected incompetents like Betsy Gotbaum or telegenic nebbishes like Eric Gioia to occupy while they position themselves for further political grandeur.

The public advocate's office begs for a political outsider. If we had elected Norman Siegel in 01, or 05 for that matter, we would be a much better city today for it. I only pray we have the wisdom to take the office seriously for the unique and important position it SHOULD BE.
