Election 2009 Aftermath

Short, sweet, and right to the point!
26% of the vote
The biggest percentage in New York County
I am told that this is mind-boggling considering the parameters of my campaign.
First time out. Running against an incumbent with over $330,000.00 in funds and thoroughly backed by
the ‘machine.’ Only four (4) months into the game with
NO GUIDANCE, NO SUPPORT, NO BACKUP, NO MONEY.
I raised a total of $1,462.00 in contributions mostly from retirees and fixed income folks. I am personally down
over $4,000.00. Anybody want to write a check made out to Stephen F. Kaufman? Can you imagine how I would

“I am the leader that you have been seeking. I stand to serve. Try me! (Notice I didn’t say “trust me,” I said try me.) You have everything to gain and nothing to lose except the status quo inadequacy and incompetence of the Democrat machine.”

PLATFORM UPDATE

I have formed a coalition of Progressive Democrats, Republicans, transit advocates, veterans, small business owners, Independents and Conservatives in opposition to one-party machine Democrats, who control the entire Upper Eastside, at City Hall, in Albany, and throughout the entire judicial selection process.

Second Avenue Subway - An Abomination

The Second Avenue Subway – An Abomination of Taxpayer Waste

I have recently written to the Daily News as a rebuttal to an article about the relocating of tenants, demolition of buildings and the destruction of businesses on Second Ave. Since that time I have done additional research into the matter after having attended the CB8 MTA meeting. Curiously, I was the only candidate in attendance as well as there not being any incumbents. No surprise there.

All that seems to be coming from the progenitors of the wasteful hole in the ground is that it is a fait accompli and nothing can really be done about it. That it will not be finished in the proposed time and at the proposed cost is further exacerbated by the apathy of the community except to say that they are disturbed and disenchanted with the entire situation. There is a lot of anger and vehemence concerning this issue and though it may be only a local matter, it does involve the entire city. and the manner in which government is conducted.
