NYC Primary Contests
Designating petitions have now been filed with Board of Elections and we can now see where likely September Primary contests will occur.
This list is subject to change as candidates will withdraw or be removed from the ballot after petitions are reviewed.
There are also probably typos & omissions on the list I received.
I’m including some information about candidates where I know something & I’m not including Judicial Delegate & Alternate contests. Even I don’t care much about them.
District Leader Brad Hoylman, business owner Thomas Greco & former NAACP official Tanika Inlaw are candidates to replace Tom Duane.
29th SD (part in Bronx)
Senator Jose Serrano is opposed by Matthew Chapman, Hector Feliciano & Joseph Martinez
As you might have read, Senator Adriano Espaillat is running for re-election opposed by Assemblyman Guillermo Linares.
Attempting to replace Assemblyman Linares are – his daughter, former Leader Mayra Linares, Assembly aide Gabriela Rosa, former candidate Ruben Vargas & Melanie Hidalgo.
Civil Court Judge Rita Mella & Acting Supreme Court Justice Barbara Jaffe (full disclosure – I’m advising her campaign) are running to succeed Kristin Booth Glen.

There are 2 candidates to replace former Assemblyman Peter Rivers – attorney (and former Rivera Primary opponent) Luis Sepulveda & Assembly staffer Daniel Figueroa.

There are 3 candidates for Male Leader – former Council candidate Carlos Sierra, Freddy Perez & Daniel Valentine & 3 for Female – Councilwoman Maria Del Carmen Arroyo, Juana Pena & Iris Fernandez.
Steve Santano is opposed by Simon Gutierrez.
