Listed below is a list of COWARDS who do not deserve public office

The elected officials listed below are public disgraces. New York City residents should not support any of these individuals for any other public service positions. They were elected with the social contract to represent OUR communities, NOT their own interests. Make your voice heard and ensure that embarrassments like these individuals NEVER hold elected office again.

Yesterday’s congestion pricing vote did one thing, it separated the real public servants from the pretenders. In the entire City Council, there were only 6 councilmembers who could vote “Yes” in good conscience. These are the ones that represent Manhattan below 60th Street. There is no conceivable way in that this congestion pricing plan actually helps the rest of NYC outside of the privileged area below 60th Street. In fact, what it will do is contribute to the congestion around the edges of this hallowed zone, which will in turn result in a worse environmental situation for areas like Western Queens, Brooklyn and Northern Manhattan/Bronx. Further, as a regressive tax against the working middle class that live in the outer boroughs, it will continue to divide the City into the haves and the have-nots. Of course, since Uncle Moneybags probably couldn’t even tell you where Sunnyside or Bushwick are, he doesn’t really care. Besides, all his millionaire friends are now going to have better air, even if they won’t have basic goods because it will be too expensive for companies to pay $30 every day to make their deliveries.

Thank G-d we have Shelly Silver to stop this madness.

Shame on Michael Bloomberg and shame on every single spineless coward listed below, especially those from Brooklyn and Queens who have blatantly slapped their constituents accross the face.

When their terms are up or when the choose to run for another public office (several of them already are) make sure that they do not get elected.  End their public careers based on this sell out.

Also, I can't wait to hear what several of them who were against this unfair toll which will only hurt the middle class and the poor are getting for voting in favor of congestive pricing.

As a middle class constituent of Councilman  Domenic Recchia, I will not support him anymore, FOR ANYTHING, including DOG Catcher , if he were to run for that. This shows everyone in Coney Island, Bensonhurst, & Gravesend where his loyalties are. Namely big developers such as Joe Sitt of Thor Equities Et al. The next time he's at a public venue he should be booed off the stage. He's shown himself to be a real low life. Small buisnessmen have had it with him. While we struggle to make ends meet , his voting FOR congestion pricing just puts another burden on the table that willl be passed onto the consumer. Politically he's finished.

Congestion pricing will be just like the smoking ban. As has been the case in London, Stockholm and Paris, transit-dependent urban dwellers deeply appreciate and enjoy automobile restrictions and traffic reductions. The politicians who align themselves with these measures will be elected and reelected, perhaps even by landslide margins, as was the case with Mayors Livingstone and Delanoe in London and Paris.

This issue has shown we have two sets of overlords.

The top executive class, which sits on each other's boards and sets each other's pay.

And the political class, with their pensions and placards who believe they deserve better than the public services they provide to the rest of us. Whose streets? Their streets, parks, etc. Our taxes.

One is hell bent on destroying our economy, the other our public services.

So...

So of the people running citywide, Avella, Katz & Weprin, didn't vote for it...and the rest did, or am I missing someone?

Whatever you think of the policy, it took balls for Recchia and Stewart to vote yes.

And Yassky was voting his district's postition, so while it took no courage, he would seem to be reprsenting his community, even if that community were misguided.

Hooray for Lew Fidler who stood up for Brooklyn.

Lets see what they got for voting yes.  Time will tell.
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 04/02/2008 - 1:17pm.

The vote they took, except in cases like Yassky and James, was an unpopular one. The price may have been good, or not, but in the end, it still takes guts to take an unpopular vote, even if, as seems likely in this case, it was the right one.

Why don't you just take the train?

You forgot one, Denny Farrell.  He is only out to get additional monies for himself and developers.  He should be worrying about the poor an middle class people who put him in office.

What a crock of garbage!!!   12:23,  you must be on the payroll of Recchia and Stewart.  It didn't take balls to vote yes...that was easy.   It took balls to stand up to the Mayor and Ms. Quinn and vote one's conscious.    Kendall Stewart is KNOWN for going whatever way the wind blows and doing what is in HIS best interests.  I am disgusted.  On this one...JP has it EXACTLY right.

I was just about to post that it takes more balls not to cave in on congestion pricing when I saw you answered.  What Recchia et al said was "show me the money" and they sold out instead of having the balls not to.

One can have an honest disagreement about this public polcy. I'm for it, and I didn't get bribed. Why do you cstigate the motives of those who disagree. Are the Sierra Club, Citizens Union and League of Conservation Voters all whore?

Maybe they are wrong; probably not, but let's say they are for the sake of argument. Still, what could justify the type of sewage you are spewing from your mouth?

Rosie? Right. must be another gatemouth alias.

Congestion pricing is bad public policy, but given how overwhelmingly folks in the outer-boroughs oppose it, voting for it does take balls---more balls than brains.

Doctor Kendall Stewart a showed a lot of guts. He is a courageous soul. Well Rock Hackshaw said so in his last column. Remember Rock knows what he is talking about.

As a constituent of Councilman Domenic Recchia I would like to know how he possibly could vote yes on congestion pricing.  Yes, I understand his point that he was elected to lead, but he was elected to be in that position by the people of his district to represent what we want and what would be in the best interest of our district.  There is no way he can truly believe that these changes will improve the MTA or benefit our district.  We the people of your district Mr Recchia will not stand by and support you any longer.  I hope you realize this is the end of any political career for you, I can promise you that.  We do not support you and no longer trust you. You sold out, plain and simple.  Lets hope our Assembly representative Alec Brook Krasny has more sense than you and realizes what is good for his district and what isn't.  Only time will tell if we have at least one leader in our district who cares about what we the people who put him in that position really want.

I say let them ALL go. They are a bunch of self serving, recycled, pathetic group who have stolen and misspent our tax dollars, appropriated our funds for their friends and family. Term limits has not worked-some are going to get to higher offices, only because of their name/shame recognition. What a shame.
