For weeks I've tried to get someone at the board to do a Q&A with a group of homebound elderly over the phone to answer their questions about permanent absentee voting.

NO ONE ASWERS THEIR EMAILS, OR EVEN OPENS THEM. NO ONE RETURNS THEIR CALLS.

Pride of place goes to that pompous ass Steve Richman, who's too busy to open his email, but has enough time to act as bouncer for the NY delegation at the convention in Denver.

One day I will share the story about how he got fired by the Senate Mnority Leader's Office, and how he pulled a Geroge Cosntanza by keeping on showing up to work after his stuff was moved into the hallway (he even looks like Constanza)

Wish I could help you.

You're better off finding an advocacy group to help, like the NY chapter of the League of Women Voters, or AARP.

Is there a way that you can get their questions, post them here, and give us a shot at answering the questions? If not you, perhaps a local nonprofit social service provider or a church with an active elderly outreach program.

I've head to learn a lot about these types of ballots over the years because of older relatives, so I definitely would be willing to contribute the bits that I know.

Some obvious places for help other than BOE are the NYC Dept of Aging and the Public Advocate. Any group that works with elderly as a speciality is bound to be better than the BOE as they'll be more sensitive and patient.

Sorry I can't do better than that.
