Traitor Among Us

All weekend, I have been mulling over whether I should post this. As someone who tries not to allow myself to be easily manipulated, I had to make sure I was not being goaded into reacting instead of responding. I have come to the conclusion that the person in question is not that smart. So here goes.

Geoffrey Davis apparently thinks everyone is as stupid as he is. Yes, the same Geoffrey Davis who has lived in his mommy's house all his adult life, has never accomplished anything on his own, has been pimping the death of his brother, Council man James Davis, for financial gain, has out of wedlock children and a criminal record, has issues with domestic violence while holding monthly DV forums, and is positioning himself to run for Tish James' council seat in 2013, as if the police records will disappear.

Geoffrey wouldn't let me be nice to him; when I let things go and don't write certain items, I am being kind.

Example: A couple of months ago Geoffrey told me that I need to stop verbalizing my advocacy on behalf of Black women and children in community forums; and if I intend to continue to do so, I can't hang with him anymore. (WT* did he say? Must I get permission from him in order to think? I should have Geoff vet my words/actions for approval? Picture that.) Of course I told him as a born and bred NYer, I have been navigating my city long before I met him. Case closed. I let it go, as I wasn't going to miss anything.

In fact, it was a relief, since I no longer had to listen to Geoffrey's boring begs for sex, while trying in vain to engage in intelligent conversation. (For Geoffrey, anything with 98.6 degrees will do. He is one of those dumba**'s who doesn't realize that in this day and time women like me see womanizers as highly efficient disease spreading, problem causing machines.)

Anyway, Geoffrey texted me Saturday. Rather than paraphrase, here is the back and forth:

11:20:01 am G: “Bloomberg rec 150k votes w/ the Independence line Thompson lost by 50k If Thompson sat w/ Davis & Fulani & rec the line Thompson would've won...”

11:23:14 am MA: “Are you saying thompson was approached by fulani before they approached Bloomberg”

11:32:21 am MA: “Of course you have no answer. Not buying it. Sell it to the dn. They buy anything.”

11:42:42 am G: “I was on the line, that's why I couldn't answer right back”

11:43:35 am MA: “Still no answer”

12:05:04 pm G: “No answer?”

12:05:49 pm MA: “Try reading my original reply”

12:12:25 pm G: “Hard to believe that Billy met with Fulani B\4 Bloomberg huh? I no it crushing, his team didnt bat for him including Obama.”

12:14:34 pm MA: “Still not buying it. You have to come better than this”

12:21:02 pm G: “My luv check the numbers. 2001 60k, 2005 80k, 2009 150k. You can't win with out I.P. Numbers... Billy met w/ I.P. Before Bloomberg. Go check it out.”

12:22:44 pm MA: “Clueless”

13:16:55 pm G: “I think ur getting smart w/ me as oppose to holding a muture convo. Walk blessed.”

13:19:40 pm MA: “You think? A little slow, but refreshing”

I won't pick on Geoff's ADD tendencies. Instead I will start with the obvious: running on the I.P. line did not help Kendall Stewart. Name one person who won anything by running only on the I.P. line.

Besides, Geoffrey seems to have forgotten I have certain background info. Where do I begin?

Just prior to petitioning, Geoff told me Fulani was stressing him to get on board. Even though he had in the past, Geoff said he couldn't support Bloomberg this year, partly due to term limits. Geoff spent the summer campaigning for Weprin.

Sometime before the primary, Geoff told me Fulani had gotten $5 million from Bloomberg: $2.5 million for the I.P.; $2.5 million for her youth program. Geoff complained that Fulani was getting Bloomberg Bucks, but he wasn't. (This is absolute proof Geoffrey is an idiot; he is the only person in NY who wanted some Bloombucks and didn't get any. -- Even I was approached multiple times from a variety of sources. I respectfully declined. -- Geoffrey has been trying to get Bloombucks since 2003. When his brother died, Geoffrey cracked on Bloomberg for money. Instead of getting Bloombucks, the mayor gave Geoff his book. When I asked if he read it, Geoff said he read a couple of pages, and then put it down because it was boring.)

Geoff had a change of heart on primary night, when he got to play Big Willie by taking some of his community groupies to his honor's party via a free Bloombus. Later, Geoff tried to get me on the bandwagon. I declined, citing my consistent disagreements with the administration, including policies re. the city's 13,000 substitute teachers, among other things. Geoff tells me I'm stupid, that “It's business.” (Now, why should I follow behind someone who couldn't figure out how to get his own Bloombucks?)

If Geoffrey got anywhere near the council, it would be a disaster for the district. He will do anything for a dollar, including ignore the community's needs. Geoff has held a protest at a brand new, state of the art community center that had never opened because the administration would not fund the approximate $200,000 operating expenses. Geoff himself has pointed out that young people are arrested for loitering in front of the locked center. Yet he supports Bloombucks, instead of supporting Bill Thompson, a man of the people. And brags about it.

The only conclusion I can come to: Geoffrey is a traitor. A stupid one, at that. Policy is not on his agenda.

First Geoff says, “If Thompson sat w/ Davis and Fulani...”, as if Davis has any clout. With Geoff's use of “if”, the assumption is they did not meet. Between the time Fulani was angry at Bloomberg for his term limits power play and the decision for the I.P. to back him, I saw no published reports that I.P. approached Thompson or that there was a competition between the two men for the line.

& rec the line...”, there is no guarantee that if Thompson met with Fulani & Co., he would have received the line. Thompson might not have wanted it. The only thing I.P. wants is non-partisan (open) primaries, (so that what happened to Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney can happen in NY). I have interviewed Thompson many times. There was no indication Thompson, a life long party man, would support non-partisan elections, even to win the mayor's seat. Thompson ran twice citywide for comptroller. If he wanted the I.P. line at all, he would have gone for it then.

In addition, Thompson may not have wanted to bankrupt his campaign in order to meet the Political-Courtesan-in-Chief's ever increasing financial demands. The courtesan sold to the highest bidder, as she always does.

It takes Geoff almost an hour to come up with this answer: “Hard to believe that Billy met with Fulani B\4 Bloomberg huh”, which makes it suspect.

Like I said, I'm not buying it.

Ouch! Lol...

I don't know if any of that up there is true (it might be), but let me give a little disclosure. I am not Geoffrey Davis nor am I a supporter of his. I don't really know about him, I don't live in Brooklyn and I'm not involved in politics other than being a voter. I'm Just a young guy that likes to follow politics and read the news. I also didn't type that last vulgar (but funny lol) comment about James/Quinn in your last blog.

I talk about Tish James because everytime I use to see her on NY1 -and on other media- she was fighting. I was just wondering what caused the swift about face. It made me want to know who her donors are and what was she promised. She's in the media cheerleading for Quinn and saying that the lukewarm endorsement of Thompson was enough... What?!?!?

It just took me aback a little.

Mary Alice:

A great column for so many reasons. I'll focus on just one.

The reason Mr. Davis' assertions about the Indpendence Party are wrong is because they're unprovable, and anyone that thinks the I.P. gave Bloomberg the win last week is also wrong.

Far too many voters confuse the Independence Party with being an Independent. I wish that party was never allowed to register under that name simply because of the mass confusion it seems to cause.

An Independent is someone that does not register for a party. For those that thought pulling the Independence Party lever was a vote as an Independent, think again.

So sure the Independence Party racked up a whole lot of votes. But the Independence Party has no way of gauging their true support--unless they hold a primary. I have great respect for Independent voters but I wish they would not allow themselves be deceived so easily. And for the record, this is not anything against the Independence Party other than its name. But the leadership of this party should not be so quick to chalk this up as some great victory. I'd like to see a good government group to take this up as a study to better document my assertions.

Until then, I think in 4 years I'll run for mayor after registering the "VOTE HERE ONLY" party. Picture THAT as a ballot line. I'll win by a landslide.  Anyone interested in being a commissioner?

MANNY:

That's really funny. And yet so true : you might just win on the "vote here only" line.

MARY:

Sorry to see this column (for many reasons) but you are your own person.  Do keep up the good fight to empower women of color in the inner-cities relative to some of their poor life-choices. Your voice on these issues is badly needed.

I saw Mary Alice ask Mr. Davis for food money. I also saw her attend his Memorials at City Hall, Peace Walks, Art Exhibits & Domestic Violence/Victim Recovery Forums. I also read articles here on Rm8 where Mary Alice praises his work. In fact, in a recent Our Times Press article, she called Mr. Davis' organization 'The James E. Davis Stop Violence Foundation' a community icon. My take is that Mr. Davis felt sorry for Mary Alice because absolutely no one would go near her crazy A... Mr. Davis let this be another lesson for you. Some of these nut jobs are out to use you & if they can't they'll try to ruin you. Stay strong, keep up the good work. You got my vote.

Yeah this blog did seem a little too personal, and question did pop in my mind: Why she texting him if he's this irrelevant bum that hounds her for sex? But the story could be legit, I'm not sure.

I will say this though... I'm not really familiar with Geoff Davis but I didn't like when he was going around trying to say that that kid wasn't his late brothers (RIP) son. What ever happened with that? That kid looked just like his father. They could've been twins!

Clearly, Mary Alice made up the entire story re: Geoffrey Davis, I believe she got upset with Mr. Davis because he decided to support Mike Bloomberg. After googling Mr. Davis/stop the violence, I read that he doese countless positive programs for the community, for ex: GED Preperation, Peace Walks & laying Memorial Wreaths for victims of violence. I read that Mr. Davis drove to St. Louis to support the families of a City Hall shooting where the Mayor, two City Council members & a Police Officer where killed two years ago. I also read that Mr. Davis is currently in the planning stage to open The James E. Davis Multi- Cultural Museum for Peace. I feel what Geoff Davis is doing with his brother's legacy is outstanding. I believe what ticked him off about the man who said he was his brother's son, was that the person showed up after James' murder.. Back to 'Crazy Mary' After speaking with some friends of mine, I was told that they saw Mary Alice Miller asked Geoff Davis for a lift home when he was on a panel in Harlem two monts ago & he said, no. My friend said Mary Alice was there looking for Geoff Davis.. For Mary Alice to write such nasty & hatefilled personal comments tells me something about her journalist integrity. Mr. Davis probably brushed her off or should I use Mary Alice's quote, Mr. Davis said, 'You Can't Hang With Me'... Mary Alice needs to be ashamed of this blog entry.

At a forum inside St. Paul Community Baptist Church, I saw & heard Mary Alice Miller ask Bro. Davis to speak with Pastor Youngblood inorder for Pastor to pay her way on a field trip to L.A. so she could write a story about Churches coming together. Of course Bro. Davis said, no. The forum topic was about Churches coming together for a better community, Ms. Miller identified herself as a reporter from a local paper called, Our Time Press & a blogger for Rm8. Ms. Miller began dissrupting the forum speaking loudly not making any sence. The moderater (Rev Shannon) asked that she not interrupt or be disrespectfull.. For Ms. Miller to write a hate filled blog about my spiritual brother, after asking for his help tells me that she is the true traiter. I'm going to write a letter to 'Our Time Press' Editor, Mr. David Greaves showing him this hate filled blog & request to have her removed off his staff.

From a proud community groupie. Geoffrey Davis was a High School drop out & now holds a Master's Degree from Long Island University. If I'm not mistaken, he obtained his Ph.d. Davis' daughter, son & grand children attend his programs, Church & are very supportive of there father/grandfather. Davis started along with his Bro. slain NYC Councilman James Davis a Annual Peace Walk called Love Yourself Stop The Violence (which Mary Alice attends), including the past six years since James' murder. Davis conducts a program inside NY City Hall every year called The James Davis Multi-Cultural Peace Breakfast/Memorial where for the past six years, thousands of people have attended, including Grammy award winner/ music icon, Deone Warwick & (Mary Alice) Davis started a free General Education Diploma Program (GED) where at least 20 of his students graduated and are now attending College. Prior to his brother's murder, Davis started several Beacon programs serving thousands of children. Davis started the Annual Men of Faith Unity Breakfast at Bklyn's Restoration Applebees restaurant feeding the community free of charge, where Rev. Dr. Youngblood, Councilwoman Tish James, Senator Erick Adams, State committee, Walter Mosley & hundreds of others support & attend including (Mary Alice) One of the major reasons Councilman James E. Davis was successful was because of a loyal loving family support base. Mary Alice, before you call Bro Davis stupid & lie about him wanting to have sex with your ugly (inside & out) looking insane behind, you really need to seek help. I applaud Bro. Davis for his sacrifice & commitment in keeping his brother's important legacy alive. For thousands of generations we have done this & when Bro. Davis does it, a self hating, extremly confused, lonely, delusional woman named Mary Alice Miller publicly puts him down. Way to go sister, you have a lot of respect for yourself.. Thanks Bro Geoffrey Davis & Sister Thelma Davis, it's been six years since my friend was killed & James' legacy is going strong, thank G-d. if you'll run again, you'll get my vote, my entire family & community

Wow. After reading this blog & the viewers response, I believe Geoff Davis thought Mary Alice was his friend. Why would he care if Mary Alice believed him that Billy went to the Independence Party or not? Geoff probably thought he can have a political conversation with Mary Alice. Hopefully he knows now that she is a no good creature from the black lagoon.. Also, I agree with Manny the Idependance Party can not validate there vote count because of the people's misunderstanding. I voted for Bloomberg b/c I felt Thompson was not a strong candidate. Lastly, did Mary Alice say she works as a teacher in a school? After this blog posting, Deputy Mayor of the Dept of education, Denise Walcott should reaad what his teacher is posting...

Contact the paper, or any place else you would like. Try complaining to Room 8, if that will help you.

The bottom line is that the suffering of vast swaths of NYers is bigger than individual personal gain. Our ancestors like Harriet Tubman and Susan B. Anthony must be turning over in their graves to see the results of what they fought for.

It is easy to dismiss what I wrote as not factual, as if what you say matters. If that helps you, go ahead and believe it.

I addition, if any forum has a question and answer session, anyone has a right to participate, including me. The men invariably get uncomfortable when asked to include the female half of the community in the equation. For instance, like remote control, one person at the St. Paul's event said the Black community's issues will not improve until Black men's issues are dealt with. As if Black men's issues are not addresses 24/7, ad nauseum. And, as if Black women do not count, or give birth to everyone in the community. The myopia is evident in some of these comments.

Re. the Coalition of Outsiders event in Harlem, Geoffrey asked me to come. I only asked if he was riding back to Brooklyn. If that is a crime, I am guilty.

Geoff asked me to go to many places with him. When I got in the car, I would have to listen to the sex stuff. How many times can someone roll their eyes and say no? He even asked if front of other people.

Besides, Geoffrey asked me to write numerous articles about him, his events, candidates he supported, etc. Like I am his personal PR machine. I had to tell him a lot of that stuff is/ was not news. I am supposed to be stupid and not know he was just trying to get articles written to legitimize whatever.

Part of the problem in the Black community is that critical thimking skills are suppressed -- you are attacked if you don't agree with the status quo, which is usually skin deep "analysis." Therefore, development of the community is stunted by limited thinkers. Diversity of opinion is absent.

In addition, the Black community's issues are defined by many Black grassroots males who attack Black women for speaking up regarding the well being of Black women and children, espercially girl children. The sexism is rampant.

And they call for unity. What they really want is for no one to challenge them. And please don't dare think for yourself.

This is some kind of feminist war against all black men in your own mind lol...

And you're right! There would be no use to complain to this website and you know it, that is why you said that. I just demonstrated on another blog that some people could care less if a black persons character is assassinated. But if you as much as say a peep about their people? Immediate ACTION is taken! And comments get "Zapped." Lol...

I respect that...If ALL Black people thought the same way, our situation would be so much better, and race relations would improve dramatically because they would respect us more...

When you whined about "black male power," that is when I automatically agreed with the other comments about you. Only a Black female who is a small time, light weight Amateur would feel like she's being oppressed by Black Men! lol...
Black Men are not your enemy, we have no true power on this plantation, and amazes me that some of us delight in attacking each other while remaining obedient and subserviant to your white male massa's.

400 years of slavery, mass murder, Apartheid and then "assimilation" has done a number on us mentally, we Reparations NOW.

because dialog in Black communities and media is so limited, it hurts some people's brains.

Not even considering the possibility that there is another point of view is exactly why the Black community is in the condition it is.

Why should someone give you reparations? What would you do with it? Buy chicken wings and an SUV? There is no plan for community development from a strong foundation of family formation, which is why people of other cultures don't respect Black males. You don't respect your women.

But of course you guys can't see that. This is so boring.

Submitted by Plantation Politics (not verified) on Thu, 11/12/2009 - 8:57pm.

Mary, I wouldn't want dialog with someone who believes all black men are stupid idiots who disrespect their women and waste their money on fried chicken and SUV's either...

Are you out of your cotton picking mind ? No self respecting black person who loves their own people wants to hear that.

If you continuously find yourself around black men who don't respect you, then I would advise you to take the same advice you disseminate to disadvantaged black folk:

Take a look at yourself, maybe it's something you are doing.

P.S. Please stop mentioning the late great Harriet Tubman. For some reason I get the strange feeling that she saw herself as BLACK FIRST lol. It would be interesting to know if she would agree with what people like you do for browny points... You can keep Susan B. Anthony though :o)

I often disagree with her, but Mary Alice is a deep, bold  and provactive thinker who brings to mind Jack Nicholson's comment in Carnal Knowledge that these days the women are hing better than the men. I would not have the guts to say the things she does, even if I agreed with them (and when she says stuff I agree with, I usually don't have the guts to say it).

The comments made about her transgress the bounds of decency. Geoffrey, you and your mane chorus should be ashamed (though by hitting on Mary Alice, you do show some good taste, though I bet her tempature registers a few degrees higher than 98.6).

BTW, MA, I do think you are wrong about black males; the fact that white males do not show women any respect has not kept us from money and power; frankly, I see little difference between male behavior based on race--mostly males are color-blind in that they think you all pink on the inside.

I love to explore ideas (I have a list of books I would like to read that is now a good 90 pages long) and sometimes wish I could sit with  the rabbis who over the centuries debated the various reasons for things written in the Torah, and wrote their arguments down.

It is a big diversion from being around the same old limited re-hashed ideas I have heard for years. It is amazing to me that people decide what is acceptable and demand that no one think. And demand no one question them.

I question the so-called "communalism" of Black people, you would think individual members of the group should be free to develop their diverse talents for the betterment of the group. Instead, many of us are confronted with communal pressure to limit ourselves -- to and for what? Those of us that can't take it expand our boundaries beyond the commune. It is too confining.

I find this whole discussion rediculous. Both Geoffrey and Mary Alice are crazy. If the paper Mary Alice wrote for was for sale, I would NEVER buy a copy of it because Mary Alice is not a true journalist. In fact, she lacks the basic skills of a journalist such as integrity, objectivity and the ability to research even the smallest detail (similar to reporters at the NY Post). She has taken her pulpit at OTP and r8ny to disparage and denegrate both black men and women. Geoffrey is a different kind of crazy, more like stupid.

Can you tell me why there isn't a whole lot of archaeological evidence of this Ancient kingdom of Judah in what is now modern day Israel?

Or what about the archaeological evidence in the surrounding areas?

Given Abraham, Moses, David, and Salomon's prominent roles in world history (according to the Bible) you would think that these characters would at least show up in ancient Egyptian or assyrian art and artifacts wouldn't you? Where are these mystery men?

The oldest reliable archaeological evidence and references to the Jewish kingdoms from neighboring nations are from the Omrid period (9th Century B.C.), when Jewish religion hadn't yet developed into its present monotheistic form. All characters prior to this period, including Abraham, Moses, Salomon and David are in all likelihood mythological (with some probable real base, like with all myths), and accounts about their feats were compiled much later from oral traditions. However, archaeologists have found ancient inscriptions mentioning a "house of David" (Tel Dan Stele), which some historians see as a proof of the historicity of the king, or at least of a Jewish territory with that name, but most deny the existence of a vast Jewish kingdom under his rule.

The book "The Bible Unearthed", by Israeli historian Israel Finkelstein gives a good insight about this controversial subject.

In all honesty, I believe that either the epic told in the Old Testament was a highly exaggerated story produced by Ancient Eygtians who left Egypt to occupy the land of Caanan, or the Israelite kings were really Pharoah's, but their names were changed in the story for concealment purposes. The latter only makes sense to me because the Ancient Egyptians were the ones ones who really lived the glorious lifestyle of the kings described in the bible.

I believe that Judaism in it's purest form has it's roots in the so-called "Mystery Religions" practiced in Eygypt/Kemet! - The oldest civilization known to man to EVER WORSHIP ONE GOD!

Oh, and Kemet ran along the ENTIRE NILE RIVER, which runs through not just modern day Egypt, but also Sudan, Burundi, and Ethiopia (where you can find Jews and Christians till this day). So in a round about ways, I am glad that your hatred of black people has lead you to learn about your own roots- albeit indirectly lol...

P.s...... It's the same story with Jesus, I just thought I'd go after the foundation first lol...

I drove with Mary (Blk Male hater) Alice & Geoffrey Davis on more than one occasion, I saw Geoffrey over the summer give her money after she begged him, stating she didn't have any for food in her refrigerator. I also saw her ask for cash to do favorable articles on political races, is that ethical? Mary Alice did you or did you not ask Geoffrey for money? Be truthful. How could you write this after he embraced you & called you his sister? I agree sometimes he can go overboard with his corney jokes, but lets be serious, he never tried to date you or have sex with you.. You text him two weeks ago asking for my info inorder for you to do a story about the courts. Did you not? I told Geoffrey to ignore you & not deal with you @ all. However, he said I was wrong about you & that you had a good heart.. Lastly, Please stop using the pain of our ancestors to try & make it look like you really care. Either someone paid you to attack Geoffrey, You couldn't score with him or you got pissed off b/c he left the so called blk loving establishment & made his own mind up & went with Bloomberg.. Geoffrey has totally changed his ways, educated himself, ran for office & is a great community leader. I dedcided to say great job to him & his family while he can hear me...

At every major event for the last six years, Dr. Fulani & Councilwoman Tish have attended Geoffrey Davis' functions. It's clear they support him. Davis endorsed Tish with her win over Delia, Davis supported Bloomberg at Fulani's request. Tish suggested at a public 2009 Love Yourself Stop The Violence rally that Davis run for City Council when her term is up. The writing is on the wall on what there plans are.
