Daily News to Bronx DA: Your Explanations Defy Credibility

There is but one reason why a prosecutor should slap anyone with a grand jury subpoena - and that is to conduct a criminal investigation. To apply the grand jury's power for another purpose or to accomplish a hidden agenda would be a serious abuse.

These principles bear restating because of a suspicious and disturbing case, herewith captioned: Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson versus The Bloggers Who Wrote Mean Things About Him and Allied Pols.

It came to light Tuesday that Johnson's office had delivered a subpoena to the operators of a New York political Web site, called Room Eight, seeking information that would help prosecutors identify who was anonymously posting those mean things.(
