On the allegations of sexual harassment by Hevesi secretary Alexander McHugh, and his subsequent firing:

Hevesi spokesman David Neustadt said McHugh "refused to cooperate" with an internal investigation of the claim, and that the office "found no evidence of sexual harassment."

"We will not be blackmailed into rehiring someone who was fired for good cause," he said.

Sources said the FBI is investigating the dealings of Bronx Democratic leader José Rivera and Stanley Schlein, the longtime lawyer for the party and a well-known figure in local politics.
