David Soares: Cult Tool?Just when you think you've seen the apogee of Albany wierdness, something new comes along to set you straight. Am I the only one here that's heard or read of the Albany Times Union special report(s) on the Albany County DA David Soares and this allegedly pedophilic cult called NXIVM? The TU says that Soares allowed a high-ranking NXIVM member to literally move into the Albany DA's office to pursue a case against some other cult member that went off reservation. Supposedly, the case was thrown out with prejudice after Soares allegedly let this cult member game the grand jury process. Consequently, the TU wants an investigation by Eric Schneidermann. I'm not sure if Soares was a full-fledged member of this outfit, but word on the streets is that he and his family are. I'd say it unbelievable, but that's kind of naive. in other words soares had nothing to do with NXIVM? i ask because i don't know. hopefully he doesn't. nor is he a member. and like i intimated in the post, i didn't write the stories, the times union did. i think they did another piece on him today, but i haven't seen it. Hey, Vicor J (if that's your real name and you're really not a member of NXIVM yourself), you are 100% wrong about Soares. I personally heard Kristin Keefe, the NXIVM priestess who worked in Soares' office, brag about the fact that Soares had allowed her to get involved in the Grand Jury process. And what about the fact that both of Soares' sisters and his brother-in-law took NXIVM courses (See: http://saratogaindecline.blogspot.com/)? Is that just a coincidence?

That is the most inflammatory nonsense that I have ever heard. I have met the Albany DA a number of times over the years and I have always found him to be beyond any kind of reproach. Perhaps one of his few weaknesses in the eyes of his adversaries is that he takes the pursuit of justice too literally; hence he was not inclined to arrest the occupiers in Albany, which clearly rubbed number influential people the state the wrong way.
