Richard Taylor Speaks's blog36th & 41st District Sell-Outs...
Yesterday City Hall & The New York City Council arrogantly silenced the voters of New York City. The Council paved the way for Mayor Bloomberg to seek a second term while selflessly given themselves another 4 years in office. The elected officials of the 36th Council District (Al "Don't Give a Damn" Vann) & 41st Council District (Darlene "Turncoat" Mealy not only misrepresented the interest of their constituents who elected them but ultimately sold out the community for political favors or promises in City Hall. We should never be surprised of the misguided intentions and efforts of Councilman Vann, afterall he's managed to hold down his seat with the assistance of his elitist Brownstoner cronies, Community Board 3 Neanderthals and his good old boys at Vanguard. His vote was yet another ploy to keep his lackluster political career alive until he decides to head for the Southland. As he sat with a sheepish grin explaining his reasoning for voting in favor of the extension, he gave antiquated examples of his "old day's" in politics completey filled with pointless rhetoric.
Live from Cesar’s Palace…
Cesar (Bloomberg) hopped a jet to sunny Los Angeles to argue about a referendum then returned for a Broadway opening, while Mark Antony aka Chris Quinn decided she’d refrain from attending the hearings thus opting to attend meetings all day. Meetings? Her council members were in chambers so who could she have possibly met with? Speaker Quinn has displayed her arrogance and fascist behavior once again to the voters of New York City. At noon, the small crowd of seniors armed with walking canes and colorful Tenant Association T-Shirts and paraphernalia descended on the steps of City Hall with their southern drawls and charismatic energy. Once inside the council chambers you could find political operatives, nostalgic political powerbrokers, community leaders and political hopefuls.
Where They Stand: Council Split Over Term Limits
Mayor Michael Bloomberg introduced legislation to the City Council Tuesday that would extend term limits and allow him and other elected city officials to run for a third term in office. NY1 News contacted all 51 City Council members to find out where they stand on the issue.
36th Council District: Politics or a Coney Island Sideshow?
The City Council could vote as early as Tuesday on the new bill extending term-limits an additional 4 years. If passed this unfortunate turn of events will leave 2009 hopefuls in a dilemma.......To Run or Not to Run? Not only will egos be crushed, fundraising campaigns will be halted (even abandoned) and operatives will be sent into a political frenzy.
Today's New York Daily News surveyed City Council members regarding their position on the proposed bill. 36th District Councilman Al Vann stated to the New York Daily News that "he will indeed vote for the extension and will seek re-election should the bill be passed".
Bloomberg's Term Limits Fiasco
They say politics make strange bed follows, such is the case of cosmetics mogul and billionaire Ron Lauder. A stark proponent for term limits in 1993 and founder of New Yorkers for Term Limits. He led his support to keep term limits in place but now he wants an exception for his fellow billionaire boys club member, Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The 36th District Political Fumblings Continue
This past Primary Bedford Stuyvesant watched the 56th Assembly race, as an incumbent beat a new-comer by a 75% margin. Cenceria Edwards not only challenged the staus quo she was forced to endure endless attacks by the Robinson team. Is the community that misguided that they're willing to condone violence, slander and hypocrisy for the sake of "holding down the fort". Special interest groups like The Brownstoners and the neanderthal members of Community Board 3 not only mislead voters with their tainted history and rhetoric but continue to perpetuate the Vann-Robinson fumbling's. This community has been forced to endure the political shenanigans of these two for too long.
