Here We Go Again: Barack Obama Will Win the New Hampshire Primary
I am convinced that many in media just don’t get it; just like many of our elected officials in this country. They wouldn’t recognize a meteorite even if it was hurling straight toward them at one mile per day. They see what they want to see only, and they don’t think deeply. Their visions are usually clouded by their special interests, corporate owners, myopia, greed and/or ego-needs. Last winter, I told the world that the only thing stopping Barack Hussein (Barry) Obama from being the next president of the USA, is an assassination; either a political or physical one. I also said that if he was fully white (and not just half-white), this race would be a wrap. This bad boy is special with a capital “s”. On Tuesday night Barack Obama will win the New Hampshire primary (probably by a larger margin than he did in Iowa), and when he does quite a few people are going to be shocked. But they shouldn’t be. He has been over-exposed for many years now. What many of us who support him has recognized, is that he is exceptional on many levels and in many areas. For those who haven’t gotten there as yet, consider this: that if you had read the two books he wrote, listened to some of his speeches, followed his political career, considered his intellectual development, studied his profile/record, digested his resume, appreciated his legislative output and diplomatic skills, been fascinated by Oprah Winfrey’s endorsement of his integrity, character and candidacy, smiled at his magnetic personality, been impressed by his dynamism, been arrested by his charisma, been amazed by his human decency, admired his unique background, respected his spiritual growth, applauded his multi-culturality, absorbed his world view, accepted his commitment to family life, been charmed by his grace, marveled at his dignity, felt his love for his wife and kids, been touched by his compassion and been analytical of his life experiences, you would have come to this conclusion long ago. Add to all this, the fact that he is articulate and eloquent; and what do you get: a political dynamo. What we are witnessing in contemporary US history, is what I have been trying to describe since last January, when I wrote my first article in my initial three part series on why he should run for the presidency. Go back and read the series before attacking me on these blogs for self-applauding my prediction (Obama’s Iowa victory) coming through and true. Barack Obama is a phenom. Don't be surprised if he scores a triple by winning South Carolina too; this guy can possibly run the table people-in all the primaries before Super Tuesday (02/05/08). As I said way back in January when I gave some reasons why I felt he should run for the presidency: he is very special. Stay tuned-in folks.
Here We Go Again: Barack
Here we go again. Willing to go out on a limb for this one too Rock? Want to be on record as making this prediction? Easily said after Obama won Iowa.

To last commenter: if you read my Iowa prediction you will see that I was leaning towards this one also; and if you have been reading my Obama articles you will know this was coming. STOP HATING. I CALLED IT. NO ONE ELSE DID.
I agree 100% brother, change is coming!
Humanity F Critic aka "Gordon Gartrell" NO more- ITS SICKENING. !!! ITS TIME FOR CHANGE !!! Hillary Clinton and John Edwards Voted for War on Iraq. Hillary Clinton supported Bush on aid to Pakistan for wrong reasons. John Edwards is using populist theme for convenience in this election and is a big hypocrite. Barack Obama is a community organizer from the beginning and is honest person and refused to be a Trial Lawyer. BARACK OBAMA's JUDGEMENT TRIUMPHS OVER HILLARY CLINTON'S WRONG EXPERIENCE. BARACK OBAMA'S HONESTY TRIUMPHS OVER JOHN EDWARDS'S HYPOCRISY. BARACK OBAMA'S POLITICS OF HOPE TRIUMPHS OVER JOHN MCCAIN'S POLITICS OF FEAR. !!! VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA !!!
Sir why don't you get on your knees and pay amage to Obama. He is no different than any other new age damocrate. He is a quazi socialist/comunist. He will impose the same type of so called democaracy as Hugo Chaves and Fidel Castro. If this is your democracy you can have it. I believe in freedom to make or break your futrure, whitch is different from what the dam's believe in. During the clinton years of DO NOTHING except almost singlehandedly destroy the US Military. If you want socialism vote for the damarats. I will fight you all to the death.
Sir: Before you fight us all to the death, please go back to school and get a proper education, since it is obvious from your writing that you are not well educated. This leads me to believe (and I may be wrong here)that you aren't intellectually developed (either formally or informally/since you can be intellectually developed without going to school or college) enough, to grasp the complexities of the contemporary realities. It is obvious that contemporary issues are way above your head, and that your conclusions are whacko. Your political reality seems to be inconsistent with that of most people. Talk to a shrink please.
Rock... do you have any knowledge or resources that point to the demographics of the caucuses that voted for Obama? Here in the south many are justifying the results in Iowa as republican cross-overs to keep Hillary from being elected. They just can’t believe a “black man” will make it as president. All those young, first-time, caucus attendees… could they have been plants?
This is historic for a number of reasons but one factor that my sound silly is "The American Idol" factor. People, mostly young, have been trained to vote and with such a dynamic contest going on, they are voting. They don't really need a compelling reason to choose a favorite. It's fun. It's cool. Other people who don't usually vote now also have many choices - the first woman or Mormon or black or hispanic or gay or mayor-to-president or oldest or elf or pastor-down-the street president ever! But who will win it all? It has to be Barack Obama because Hillary represents going backwards. Edwards is even tacitly supporting Obama by attacking Hillary. It's amazing. The Bushes and the Clintons are different sides of the same coin. That's why the Republicans want to run against Hillary. It would be their chance to get revenge and use ALL of their Bill material against her. Can you IMAGINE the ads!? They'd accuse her of harboring a terrorist in the White House! Because Obama will crush any of the Republicans for a similar reason, it doesn't even matter who wins the nomination. The Republicans need to appear as progressive as possible but that means, by definition, going against the Bush doctrine. This will alienate the 25-30% who adore Bush. They can't win by siding with Bush either. McCain is too old and looks it. Those sweaters aren't fooling anyone. Mormon CEO? Not gonna happen. Rudy? Nope. The whole "I'm not competing" strategy is stupid. Being the mayor of NYC on 9/11 isn't a qualification for anything. I would think that because of his war experience, McCain would be disgusted by the idea of killing people. Apparently not He's too old to learn. Simply put, the Republicans will crash and burn in 2008. And finally, I suspect that something lewd will be discovered about Huckabee. He just has that vibe. It could be the water in Hope. Peace By 2010! At least for younger and future generations? I think it may be, at least for people growing up in the post-Civil Rights, globalization era.
To say Obama is Black first and foremost, is to assume that someone whose father came from Kenya, his mother was white, who spent part of his childhood in another country, and who spent much of the rest in a place where Japanese and Hawaian Islandars far outnumber anyone else, shares his most important personal background with those whose ancestors were kidnapped to America as slaves, spent several hundred years in the South under slavery and Jim Crow, and (perhaps) moved to a northern ghetto in this century, all while having limited contact with those who weren't like them. I don't see much commonality there. Obama seems to me to be basically a global man, like Tiger Woods with his American Black and Thai parents and Sweedish wife. And that seems to where things are going, even in places like Iowa and New Hampshire. Not everyone likes it, but there it is. It seems to me the only people likely to focus on the Black-White thing are older folks (like many of our perpetually incumbent pols), and those now out of the mainstream -- Blacks still in those ghettos, Whites in all-White rural areas, which are in some ways ghettos themselves. I don't think anyone else cares anymore. And I think, as time goes on, those will be the only people who can be thought of as members of homogenous voting blocks. (Other people who don't usually vote now also have many choices - the first woman or Mormon or black or hispanic or gay or mayor-to-president or oldest or elf or pastor-down-the street president ever!)
Not to mention Jewish, if Bloomberg runs, in which case virtually no one will pay attention to his religious background. Well, looking at financial and familial issues the 1950s and 1960s generations really screwed up this country in a lot of ways. But in multi-cultural terms, I guess you have to give them credit to getting things to this point.
Larry my friend, I want you to do me a great big favor. I want you to read my article entitled "Obama/part3"; it was written last July. Go up on my archives (just click your mouse on my picture here). I ask you this beacuse some people are telling me that I have written the three most poewerful articles on this presidential cycle by any writer on the blogs or in mainstream media. They have made some recccomendations to me that I rather get an objective voice on before I go forward. If you need further context, go back to both #1 and #2 of the three part series; and end with my Iowa prediction of
Thanksgiving, and those of this past week. E-mail me your comments to me at rockhackshaw@excite.com. Or page me at 1-917-641-5505; I will respond and we can talk about why I ask this of you. TYVM.
Your reaction is very typical of liberals. A conservative must believe what he believes because he's ignorant. If we were just as smart as you we would understand?! This year message from the Dems is one of collectivism ans socialism. I frankly put more faith in people than the government. I'm not sure why you thnk that the media does not get the phenomenom that is Barak Obama? They may not have prior to last week, but now...they clearly get it. Each and every program that I have watched seems to "get" that this Obama train may not be one that can be stopped. Some polls have him ahead by 10 points in New Hampshire as of this morning. Next you will predict a South Carolina win if he wins New Hampshire!!! LOL One thing you said however truly resonated with me. For certain, if Obama were white, this election would by now be a wrap. Since he is black, Hillary and company will continue to play the race card by using the racist code language of choice these days...that being that Obama "is not electable." We all know that she is speaking to the fact that as a black man in America, his chances of winning the presidency are slim to none. What I find interesting is that by stealing the election from Al Gore, the Republicans by putting Bush in the White House may have unwittingly given the right black man, in the right place and time a chance to win this thing. God Bless America. Off topic...was I the only one who was impressed by Huckabee the other night? Some of his beliefs and positions seem to be really out there, but I'm telling you...there is something about this guy. He is very charasmatic and has some type of appeal that I can't put my finger on. He seems very likable. This presidential race is fast becoming one for the ages, and the momentum has quickly swung Obama's way. In addition, Clinton should immediately stop attacking Obama, because it could backfire... when are you going to pay me my TRUE "respects" on that great call?
I am eighteen and an Iowan, and I caucused for Barack Obama this year. I am not a Republican plant trying to throw the election away from Hillary Clinton, and neither was anyone else in my precinct (which actually had slightly more Edwards supporters) that I am aware of. Iowa is a northern state and has a fairly small minority population, so I didn't grow up knowing many blacks. Maybe because the situation has improved since I was born and maybe because without many minorities, race isn't a large issue, I've never known a time when anybody seemed to care about race at all, except in elementary school, where it was relentlessly reiterated that you shouldn't judge a person by their appearance. So, Barack Obama's race was not a factor in my choice, and I don't really think it was a factor in many other Iowans' choices either. Instead, my choice was based on his character and ideas, particularly from a speech at my college about a month ago. To put it very briefly, I really like his optimism and his desire to involve people in creating a better country. People I know who voted for Barack Obama have been following his campaign closely for months and were following Dennis Kucinich and John Kerry in the last election... So, no, there is no Republican conspiracy, and yes, the state can honestly vote for a black man.
Rock, Clearly, your unequivocal support for Obama was well deserved - and your remarkably prescient articles concerning his Iowa victory were very impressive. Does this mean that you will now leave Room 8 to pursue greater endeavors (no offense intended to the Room 8 moderators)? And by the way, Mr. Hackshaw, you have now raised the bar to an incredibly high level. Your Iowa prediction is like Eli Manning and the Giants defeating the Bucs this past weekend...an unexpected, but joyous occasion. So enjoy the victory, for you've earned it. But the question looming in the horizon for both you and the Giants is: can you sustain it? I look forward to reading your future articles... Barack Hussein Obama is a "Motivational Speaker" Obama gets by Hillary as people are just tired of the Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton program with the American Presidency. Dems also know Hillary will be a "Lighting Rod " for the GOP which in the back of their minds spells disaster for them down the road. Dems also know in the back of their minds that Obama is a complete "Rookie" as he was just a "State" Senator two years ago, (Doing what State Senators do best - Park dedications, Baby seat laws and Street namings). Obama lack of experience will play in the back of the minds of the Dems. Jim Kelly - NY Conservative Campaigns Loved the result, loved the prediction. Though the idelological value of "change" by itself really doesn't leave us with much direction. I think that although Obama must poll well against most likely Republican candidates there is a real question if we are over the "southern strategy" or not as a nation. Mr. Obama is enough better than Ms. Clinton that I'm willing to find out as a voter. I'm not sure he is that much better than Mr. Edwards but it won't matter much after he runs out of money. Edwards may soon start running for VP, maybe already is. If he decides he and Obama could make it work maybe he throws his weight behind Mr. Obama. I thought Richardson or Biden would make good VP matches for Mr. Obama as well. However, one thing is clear. The media is Mr. Obama's base. He has a great narrative and the best cheerleader in the world in Ms. Winfrey. For the record I predicted a NH win before Iowa. But I did NOT predict an Iowa win. I gave that to Clinton. SC also will go Obama. No question. I picked Huckabee as he Repub winner many months ago. Romney will not do well. McCain and Giuliani may do better than current info suggests because I think they will get some of the big states. But Huckabee will be the nominee is my gut reaction. As for the guy above who suggests that Obama's voters are all Republican plants, well...ummm...let's leave at no. That is not what is happening. Just because some white Republican crackers who probably get most of their info from Fox News can't believe an uppity black just might be President (long road yet, but it COULD happen!) doesn't mean the rest of the nation is as narrow minded. Bottom line is, in both states Independents get to vote either for a Dem or a Repub. In both states Independents are picking a Dem...enthusiastically. The breakdown for Iowa in terms of TOTAL votes received (party aside) went: Obama, Edwards, Clinton THEN Huckabee. IN other words, EACH of the top three Dems outpolled the top Republican. The Republican vote was tiny compared with the COMBINED votes for Obama, Edwards and Clinton. No way to read that but a massive rejection of the REpublican party. Now, I am always the pessimist. I never underestimate the ability of REpublicans to lie, steal and cheat an election, nor the ability of Democrats to fumble. It's a long long way to November. But right here and now, the Republicans are in about as bad a position as they have been since 1932. And look at what happened back then. Still an undecided voter. I like all the Dem candidates, for different reasons. But I sure as hell don't mind seeing this kind of wild enthusiasm for Obama. I may not be convinced yet, but it is sure noticable the way so many independent and young voters ARE convinced. That is surely worth something. Just hope he is prepared for the really nasty, Corker-style racist attacks the Republicans are bound to unleash. We weren't ready when they used it on Ford, jr. in Tenn. We better be ready now. A brilliant and impressive man Obama- lacking only in tried and true experience. Hillary is a bright and ambitious woman - who acts and speaks without the skill of this orator. She will lose it all. Not because of what she knows or has experienced but because she is not a speaker. The voter is not accustomed to hearing the thin voice of a female running for the Presidency. If she had written a resume she would get the job. However, that is not how it is done in the USA. I think all we had better think about what Macain is about because he has a chance against Obama and I abhor the thought of another Republican in the White House. Good luck Democratic Party you will need it. Hillary should not be held in contempt because of hatred for her husband - She showed great restraint in those years. I am truly sorry that it has gone the way it has. PR MA Well, Rock. Looks like New Hampshire fooled us. I'm laughing my ass off at it! Well, I was sure Obama would get New Hampshire. Then again, early on I predicted Iowa and New Hampshire would go different ways. I guess I can claim I got that right...for what it's worth. Wide open race for both parties. I still think Huck will win Repub side. But I think I will stop predicting too much on the Dem side. I would be happy with President Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama or President John Edwards (or even President Bill Richardson, but that probably ain't happening...that seems a safe prediction this year). Hillary is going to get 30-33% of the vote wherever she goes pretty much, particularly in states that don't have open primaries, because of the party establishment vote and old line Democrats. Therefore as long as Edwards is around taking up 18-20% of the vote, she becomes hard to beat. Obama should pressure Edwards to get out, or the "change" vote will continue to be splintered and Hillary will get nominated. If Edwards was not in the race yesterday, Obama might have won New Hampshire. Obama needs a two-way race to beat Hillary. He needs to put all kinds of pressure on Edwards to drop out.
Was it Sen. Clinton's tears? A rejection by New Hampshire voters of Iowan's getting to decide who the nominee is? The good weather? Who knows why, but boy were you wrong; but you can't feel too bad about it when one of the last polls had Sen Obama at an astounding 13 points ahead. The question is what happens next? Will Sen. Obama get his fist big union endorsement and win the Nevada caucuses? Will the disprotionately large black Democratic population of South Carolina vote for Sen. Obama after he loses in New Hampshire? (It will be probably close there, no matter what). Sen. Obama got a lot of support from independents in Iowa and NH. A lot of the "Super-Duper Tuesday" states do not have open primaries: Non-registered Democrats need not apply. I like Mr. Obama, but his prospects for the nomination were reduced significantly last night.
I expected to scroll down and at least see some sort of acknowledgment of a blown prediction, but nothing. I am not surprised because I think Barak Obama's lack of depth will reveal itself as time goes by. I think he is a very good man and will make a great leader. To cast aside all comments that bring up his lack of experience is to ignore the obvious. Mr. Obama is going to have to say something and do something that any number of great public speakers cannot. What great speaker couldn't say all of those motivating things? But a great speaker does not a good president make. I admire Mr. Obama, I am moved by him and I hope he continues to serve and to do great things and make mistakes to learn by, but I don't want him in charge of the military yet, leading us in a poor economic time and being in charge of coordinating our foreign affairs. I would like to see his great talents utilized in foreign affairs and by whoever wins this presidency. My real question is though, if a group of great writers constrcuted a politcal campaign and chose the right person to deliver it, what would be the difference. he is saying good things, he is a hell of a motivator, but settle my nerves with substance. Tell me how you plan to accomplish the things you promise. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. In 1984 Gary Hart came along, young charismatic senator from Colorado who gave great speeches talking about change. Gary Hart was a surprise second in Iowa and a stunning winner in New Hampshire. He was suddenly the frontrunner and the money came pouring in. But a funny thing happened to Gary Hart once he got out of New Hampshire and was in closed primaries dealing with democratic party voters, not independents. These voters started to realize, "hey we don't know this guy that well" Then Walter Mondale looked him in the eye in a famous debate moment, and said "Where's the Beef?" In one word from a Wendy's commercial, Mondale summed up the idea that Gary Hart had great style but who knew if he had the substance. Where's the Beef? I fully expect Hillary is going to use this same ploy as she started to in New Hampshire. She is going to "Where's the Beef" Obama, play up the fact that Obama is a great speaker but how well do we really know him?
remember change is like rest.give chance to this humble son of ours and realise the dream we had for long.he is promising and a good element of change.he knows no race,no tribe,no individual,no hilary,no clinton,no bush,no mccain but nation building with happiness allover. He has all it takes to be embraced.Go vote OBAMA and learn where you to find your better future.
