Hey Gatemouth: Your "Buddy " Chuck Barron Called This Morning.
An excited Charles Barron called early this morning, to inform that he has raised more money in 2 months running for Congress, than he had raised in 2 years running for Mayor of New York City. Barron said that when he files for his congressional committee next week, it will show a total of around seventy-five thousand dollars raised in the last 2 months ( Feb. and March/2006). In his excitement, he forgot to mention that he had personally loaned the campaign twenty thousand dollars to kick-jump its late start. He stated that he finally made his mind up about entering the race on 1-22-2006, and has been fundraising mainly over the phone ever since. He still has no official fundraiser and is running a typical unorthodox "Barronesque" campaign, relying heavily on grassroot popular support and committed volunteers. Anyway he was correct, since he only raised about fifty thousand while running for mayor. As I am sure most of you know by now, last January he withdrew from the mayoral race and threw his support to C.Virginia Fields who came in third. Room Eight readers will be pleased to know that I took the opportunity to read him Gatemouth's post ( "Curse You Chuck Barron"/ Room8 ), which he found hilarious, and further stated that Gatemouth is a fine writer. When I pushed again ( playing "devil's advocate"), Barron said the article didn't deserve a slap. STAY TUNED Is $75,000 any kind of real money in a race for Congress? Barron needs much much more than this. At this rate he may get to $200,000 which won't be enough.

Barron has really collected a lot of funds during his campaign.And I hope he's going to collect lot more in future. Streek, I hate the way political campaigns are run in the US. Its too much about cash and not enough about principles. Whats the point of running and then needing debt solutions at the end of it.

Since I'm pretty sure that if Barron's even heard of Eric Clapton, he regards him as a colonialist ripping off the cultures of peoples of color (and I'm not sure Clapton wouldn't agree), I'm guessing that Barron didn't get my "Lay Down Sally" joke about Thomas Jefferson. So, after a lot of soul searching about where I went wrong to earn such a compliment, I could only come up with two possibilities: 1) my criticisms of Towns are far more trenchent than Barron's, and can be appropriated by him (although I'd doubt he'd Bogart my upcoming critique of Towns' vote against a resolution crticizing Khalid Muhammed), and 2) my gloss on Barron was a bit lighter than he deserved, skipping over much of his history, because most of Barron's outrages are largely the same repetitous vomit in different bottles, and I thought that most folks around these parts probably regard them as facts already in evidence, and had no need to be further nauseated by another go-round.
However, I'm a sucker for a compliment, and Barron's own statements clearly come from a guy with a well honed gift for the vernacular, who has a special talent at going for the jugular. So I'll give the man his props and humbly thank him for his kind words. Now please go away.
