Air America suspends Randi Rhodes for calling HRC and Ferraro "Whores"Air America's Randi Rhodes, an Obama supporter, called Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro and "whores" Air America has now suspended indefinitely. Here's the statement: [quote] STATEMENT OF AIR AMERICA RADIO, FROM CHAIRMAN CHARLIE KIREKER: NEW YORK — Air America has suspended on-air host Randi Rhodes for making inappropriate statements about prominent figures, including Sen. Hillary Clinton, at a recent public appearance on behalf of Air America in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station. [/quote] This was probably a poor choice of words by Randi, but whether it merits suspension is another question. Do you give up freedom of speech when you work in radio? At any rate this is another nail in the coffin of Air America. The network's flagship new york affiliate, WWRL 1600, just this week dropped about half of Air America's programming. The main show they did not drop was Randi's. For those of us who are liberals/progressives, Air America was a bright beacon of light in a bastion of conservative radio wasteland. But watching its demise over the last year and a half has been painful. First Mark Green and his brother bought it, and got rid of the news staff and half the anchors, now they have sold it and now its last big star, Randi Rhodes, is suspended and might be gone. Hell I wouldn't blame her if she quit. I am afraid Air America was a great idea that has simply not been executed well enough and is now failing. I predicted AA's imminent demise.

'Air America' is actually STILL on-the-air?! Why?! Who's listening?! Although aptly named- Who is Randi Rhodes?? . . .and who is Hillary Clinton?! I can't imaging ANYONE paying Ms. Clinton for (of all things-) sex! What a joke!
But its ok for Dick Cheney to drop the F bomb on the Senate floor Its OK for Ann Coulter to call Presidential Candidate Edwards a "Faggot" Its OK for Pat Robertson to say we deserved 9/11 Give me a break, she did not say this on air, she said it in a comedy club where usually much worse language is heard. Turn the page if you dont like what you hear. Fred Phelps pickets the funerals of American soldiers, saying vile things and i hear less outrage!! It's not OK, and they were roundly condemned for it (well, amy be not Cheney, but he told Leahy to fuck, and didn't call him one)
