Open Letter To Vito Fossella

Dear Congressman Fossella:

In light of the serious controversy you are experiencing, I would like to clearly point out something that has been overlooked that you deserve to be credited for, and that is the fact that you supported Retired Air Force Col Fay’s decision to allow her baby to live, and that you have been involved in your child’s life.

All too often, men in power expect and pressure women to terminate their unborn children’s lives in order to spare them the embarrassment of the scrutiny of an extra-marital affair. Your concern and care for your child was apparently the prompting cause for the events that led to the arrest and public scrutiny of your life that followed.

I realize that you will have to account to many about how these disclosures will affect your future. Although I don’t condone your behavior, I respect your decision that you did not take the easy way out and deny the baby’s life and that you care for and love your child.

I am praying for you and for your family, and I trust that the Lord will guide you through these difficult times.

Respectfully,

Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz

32nd Senatorial District

Thank you very much, Senator Diaz for your letter and for your respect for life.  While no one condones infidelity in one's marriage, this child's life was respected and not aborted.  Your words and your help are gratefully appreciated.

Alright Vito Fossella did commit a crime but Senator Diaz, did you forget what crime that you committed when you were a drug dealer. You were arrested and convicted of drug dealing to children, I think that is a bigger crime than what Congressman Vito Fossella did.

How do you know that Fosella begged her to abort the fetus but she refused?  Ignorant and ridiculous.  You're pretending to know something about Vito's personal life when you have no clue.  You should be ashamed.

9:55 lacks reading comprehension skils.

I agree with 8:32's sentiments.  This is something that needs to be said - so thank you Senator Diaz for promoting respect for life.

Every time Ruben Diaz opens his mouth, it's a new chance to show how big a fool he can make of himself. The man is a walking argument for term limits.

To expand on what someone else said. I need to point out the misogyny here. Fossella could not "make" her have an abortion, unless, of course, she was his property. The hypocrisy that people like the "Rev" spout on a regular basis is astounding. "I'm pro-life, but anti-woman!"

In this country is was her CHOICE not to have an abortion. He should applaud her for not doing so, since that's his moral position on the issue, but Fossella could not make that decision for her and deserves no credit either way.

Yes, he possibly showed respect for life but not respect for his wife.  Maybe he thinks marriage is a contract between a man and 2 women.

What exactly did I say that led you to say I lack "reading comprehension skills"?  "Reverend" Diaz's remarks are ignorant, and yes, highly disrespectful to women.  Jesus would disapprove, strongly.

Where did you comprehend the following: "How do you know that Fosella begged her to abort the fetus but she refused?"

That's not what the letter said - at all. Re-read it.

What leads you to write that Reverend Diaz's remarks are ignorant or highly disrespectful to women? The first blogger in this is a woman who thanks him for the letter. Where is the disrespect - except from you who obviously have issues against the Reverend and will use any blog to vent.

Who are you to say that Jesus would disapprove? Jesus' message is one of forgiveness. God's mercy is greater than our sins. If you have a different message, I doubt it's from Jesus.
