Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz - 40 Days for Life

On Thursday, September 27, 2007 from 9:30am – 11:00am New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) will join the members of the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization and Mr. Chris Slattery, organizer of Expectant Mother Care in a demonstration against abortion.  The demonstration, part of 40 Days for Life, will take place in front of Dr. Emily’s Clinic – A Bronx Women’s Medical Pavilion located at 560 Southern Boulevard, on the corner of East 149th Street in The Bronx.

“We are joining with people of faith and conscience across American in a national campaign to mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our country,” stated Senator Rev. Diaz.  “We hope and pray that our presence at Dr. Emily’s South Bronx abortion clinic will send a powerful message to our entire community about the tragic reality of abortion in our country and reflect upon our daily responsibility to protect and care for all human life.”

One of the founders and owners of Dr. Emily’s Clinic, a Bronx Women’s Medical Pavilion, PC. is Dr. William Knorr, MD, an experienced practitioner of partial-birth abortion.  Dr. Knorr unsuccessfully challenged the Partial Birth Abortion Act of 2003 as a petitioner in the United States Supreme Court case Gonzales v. Cahart.

40 Days for Life is an intensive effort designed to raise awareness, save lives, and bring healing to women who have been victimized by the abortion industry.  The campaign will be conducted simultaneously in locations throughout the United States from September 26th - November 4th.
