Ed Towns up for a Fight; Kevin Powell riding on Rihanna
Well, it has been awhile since I posted something - sorry to all the good readers on my favorite political blog - but I'm going to try harder to get back into the mix ... And without further ado ... Anyone catch this: http://briefingroom.thehill.com/2009/03/05/oversight-committee-will-host-stimulus-hearings-across-the-us/ Brooklyn's own Rep. Ed Towns seems to be taking his Chairmanship very, very seriously. And good on him for it! And we owe it to him to show up, to make this a success. It is not very often you get to see a Chairman in action outside the secretive confines of Capitol Hill. So, if you can, April 20, turn up and watch him in action and show support. Remember, this is *OUR* Congressman, out there, enforcing accountability & transparency, trying to ensure our money goes to helping us, not fat cat bankers and the corrupt Ted Stevens crowd. Change has come, but it won't survive withot our help!! Towns is trying to set a screen for Obama here, to get the GOP off his case and give the man's plan a chance to work. But Towns can't do it alone ... we've got to show Towns that we, the people of Brooklyn, support him now more than ever. And while were on the subject of who'll give enough of a damn to show up ... I wonder if Kevin Powell will have the nerve to show up to support democracy ... after all, he has time to do this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kevin-powell/rihannachris-brown-ending_b_166367.html Yup ... another rambling, semi-incomprehensible 26,000+ character diatribe, this time on the Chris Brown-Rihanna cluster f*ck of a relationship. 26,000 characters?!?! Shit, does he get paid by the letter. DAMN!!! But seriously ... First off, I'll be honest and say I agree with Kevin Powell <shock, shock>. Regardless of race or age, all violence against women is wrong. Full stop. It is wrong yesterday, today, and wrong tomorrow, whether it be emotional, physical, mental or sexual abuse. And men need to learn that preying on women just because they aren't as strong is disgusting, vile, and the sign of a spineles, useless waste of humanity. You think you're a big man for beating on a woman? You think you're a tough guy for beating on a woman? You think you're a macho-man beating on a woman? You are a pathetic joke, my friend, a sad, pathetic asshole. Let me tell you something, straight out to Chris Brown and degenerates like him. God has a special place in Hell for men who beat on women, and his torments are various and painful. Redemption and forgiveness are possible, but only when you admit your faults, seek help, and seek forgiveness. A weak, childish, gutless boy beats a woman; a man seeks out that help. So for the redemption of your own soul and the love of your woman, please seek help. She is someone's sister, someone's daughter, someone's wife, someone's soul mate. Get help and unclench your fists. Violence is never, ever, EVER the answer. So what's the difference between where I stand and where Kevin Powell stands? Only about 24,835 characters to make the same points ;) Remember, April 20 ... see you at the hearing, Kev, right? UPDATE: And now, we get the full Chris Brown story: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D96O3EK00&show_article=1 "Brown pulled his car over and tried to push Rihanna out, but she was still wearing her seatbelt, Los Angeles police Detective De Shon Andrews wrote. He said Brown pushed Rihanna's head against the window, punched her with his right hand, and then continued driving while hitting her, the affidavit states. He also bit his girlfriend on the ear, the affidavit states." Wait, he's a biter too? Maybe Kevin Powell can offer more expert advice then ... but either way, Chris Brown is a bastard. Rihanna NEEDS to leave his ass and put him in jail. She is too smart, talented, and has too much to offer to put up with this bullshit. Once a violent man, always a violent man. All it takes is the right pressure to bring it out ...
Hey, I said I agreed with KP, I just needed thousands of fewer characters to make the same case. And as for conquering his "personal demons," actually all he did was man up and go from attacking women to attacking dudes in nightclubs ... and he bit the guy! Just like Chris Brown did to Rihanna. Give me a break ...
Towns got a shout out by Prez. Obama lately...I saw a speech about "not lining the pockets of federal contracts" and Brooklyn's own got praised by Obama for his work. Go Ed Towns!!!!

How come ur hating on Powell for writing a long letter about domestic abuse???
He has conquered his personal demons, and is now trying to help people like Chris Brown find his way.
Why don't you stop trying to tear down the good folks
