To Hell With Ed KochFor the Record all who sign the pledge of NY Uprising are fools. Where has Ed Koch been, where has he been on the fights that have faced communities in this city for the last 20 years since he left City Hall. Yes he shows up to endorse candidates, and he has made a good living at his law firm. But where has he been on the issues and causes that affect all of us everyday in this City. The answer is no where. Those who live in Ivory Towers, who get angry about the way the game is being played when they stopped playing it themselves years ago, should not be listened to now. Why the media and the Legislators are paying in attention to him at all is a mystery to me and many others. Be angry Ed, we are all angry but forcing folks to come kneel at your feet for your foolishness should be ignored.. by us all and especially the Legislature.
The point of the pledges is to make candidates for office commit to being an agent of reform in Albany. It isn't about Ed Koch. He may be the voice of the uprising - and why not? He's always been outspoken and decidedly New York. The only fool in this arena is the one who thinks he can back business as ususal in Albany by bad mouthing the pledges. Stay focused. This kind of self-gratifying rambling is not productive. And they are merely process reforms. We need more than that now to avoid an institutional collapse.
They've sold the future to pander to politically organized interests and Generation Greed. Now is the time when the pain has to be allocated. So they are simply refusing to do so. Post new comment |
He reteated to a pledge to do something AFTER the election. He may not even be alive in two years to complain when it doesn't happen.
No hope while the perpetual incumbents are still in. No matter how bad things are for everyone else, they're great for them and their backers. Just like the soaring profits in a recession, built on government borrowing.
