What The Press World Missed on Primary Day Sept. 18thThe biggest thing that happened yesterday on Primary Day in the Black political world was not the victory of a judge in Brooklyn, in fact it was the dethroning of a Mayor. Yesterday in a shock to all who pay attention to Black politics in this state, Mayor Ernie Davis the Mayor of Mt. Vernon (one of the largest cities in New York State) was defeated in a surprise to all but the very few by County Legislator Clinton Young. It was a symbol of the changing politics in the Black political world in New York State. Along with Mayor Davis down went the Chair of the Mt. Vernon Democratic Party Serapher Conn-Halevi who was running for a County Legislator seat and was painted as too close to Davis and thus untrustworthy to hold that office. Mayor Davis has been the chief executive in Mt. Vernon since 1995 and is a symbol of the Civil Rights establishment of politicians of old. This is a real blow to Rev. Franklin Richardson, Rev. Al Sharpton, County Chair Reggie Lafayette and others who have been supporters of Davis for many years. The politics of the past will no longer hold – campaigns are getting more and more professionally run and technically complicated – those who do not learn that lesson are doomed to lose.

My comments are: Why we tend to see only the negative or hear what people see negatively and start a rumor. People need to investigate the issue first, before speaking out loud. No one is perfect, yes he made some errors; but who don't! Everyone have the right to speak out, but overall this man done so much for Mount Vernon and the People that we people tend not to acknowledge, we only look at the negative and this is the reason why we will not move forward to better. He never refer to anyone as ASS HOLE. He did not hire people to protest, holding a sign up and on loud speaker saying F***k Mayor Davis. This is totally unacceptable behavior and this only show us the kind of candidate we are voting for to protect mount vernon and the people. It is a shame, that so many people showed up to all Ernie Davis social activities and then turn their backs on him. Remember what goes around comes right back around and hit you harder than what you give out. Ernie Davis is a humble individual that respects people of all color. He continues to find the time to socialize and appear at all types of events/affairs. He is and independent and reliable human being with lots of dignity. For all the Clinton Young Voters, remember we are Jack Ass; he slam our Present Mayor Ernie Davis with lots of negative, so let us see what he is got to prove that is better than the One and Only Mayor Ernie Davis. Clinton Young will never get my vote, he is an ignorant individual with no ethical and his behavior is ridicules. An intelligent person that is seeking for power will kiss the dirt that the present Mayor Ernie Davis walked on for the last 12 years.
Good, he has done nothing to change the image of the City of Mount Vernon. Moral among the residents are down and they are tired of it. Spare me with that picking on the "Blacks" crap. I'm a black man who has grown up in Mount Vernon and I see has this community has went from a community to the wasteland of Westchester County. Good riddens, hopefully the FED's will come lock him up and throw him in the jail cell with Sharpe James.
<b>Governor Eliot Spitzer is right, and he is a hero!</b> Those bandit and scoundrel republicans are dividing our society with scare tactics. They are trying to make our country a hatemonger country. We welcome immigrants and their contribution to our society. The Americans who claim not to have jobs and complaining are the lazy scum of our society; we are hard working proud Americans who are not afraid to help the poor and make our society a welcoming society. Governor Eliot Spitzer is a real American whom our forefathers should be proud of. I pray to God he prevails, in which case he already did. For those of you, hateful dirt(s), go join the KKK, live in a trailer somewhere in the South in remote swaps, marry your closest, and do yourself a favor; don’t pollute our welcoming state and our country with your hate speeches. After all is it not a republican who was preying on young boy interns, and the other who took his family value straight to the rest room looking for perverts at least that was told. We are God fearing good and clean Americans, not thieves and perverts. Spitzer is right, let the poor dream as well. Thank you, may God bless Spitzer and our country; may God give your hateful heart the scent of worship and care. And when I say worship is not worshipping the hateful rep., the overweight and ugly Congressman James Sensenbrenner, whose cholesterol level still out scores his ego and hatred. Why don’t he focus on his health and eating habits rather than scaring Americans with his inflated fear tactics, back room politics and poisons bills; he might as well go and work for groups like the K.K.K. We are a welcoming nation; we feed the poor; we pray to God; we love and respect our family, neighbors and God’s creatures. Why don’t we listen to star citizens such as the priests who devoted their lives for the good of men and God; who are telling us to be kind, why do we follow a no good liar republican politician? Mayor Davis has a growing legacy here in the city of Mount Vernon. He has made a city that was almost overrun by crime about 10 years ago into a community that is only growing in its housing market. Who would have believed that a property on Third Street (Mt. Vernon's notorious crime area) would generate in the million dollar mark. Through Mayor Davis' efforts our streets are safer and cleaner. Yes there has been a rash of violent crime between youths in our city, as there are the same patterns in other urban cities. The Mayor's effort is not just to "lock up" the gang bangers and other like souls, but to bring facilitate rehabilitation and persoanl redemption. We now have aq buslting shopping district on Sandford Blvd and more businesses are courting Mt. Vernon. Admist all of the FBI investiagtions lies a smoke and mirrors campaign to destroy all the progress we have made. Mr. Young has been a county legislator for a very long time and has done very little to help Mount Vernon. He has yet to deliver a plan to make this glorious "change" that he keeps preahing about and ultimately, he showed how low and "ghetto" one can be on Primary night calling all of Mayor Davis' supporters "jackasses". I am a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon and proud of the accomplishments of Mayor Davis. We need to move forward and continue to grow and Mayor Davis is the person to lead us forward. As a lifelong Democratic, I am looking forward to exercising my rights as a citizen to vote outside of my party to Support Mayor Davis for another tem in office.
