I already said in your first "Comment Here" post that I thought Rock said he'd be posting once a week, but then again, he said he was closing his piece to comments and then couldn't resist the urge to comment when you did your thing.

I also notice, further to an anonymous commenter's noting that that your "comment here" piece is the most popular thing up on this site right now, several up from Rock's piece, a piece that didn't even make it to the first page from Republican Dissident and Politiko's latest "Prayer" are also above Rock's Grapevines piece. (Note to Politiko, we get it, you want the Republicans not to have a nominee anytime soon; not that the piece was bad (the comb over joke was good).)

Your points are well taken Stoney. Rock would be savaging Carolyn Kennedy today as well if she'd endorsed Hillary; her Wikipedia page makes her look like a Saint, so I don't know what he would have brought up (maybe that she was too young to remember her father when he died, so what does she know?).

Overall it's not a bad piece, though. He's a lot better when he doesn't self-victimize about his "attackers." Maybe I've had an influence on him for the better.

To quote John McEnroe, "YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!"  I'll agree that it's good for Barack to have the Winfrey and Kennedy endorsements, but to say that John Kerry's (Rock, please proofread before you post) endorsement means anything is laughable.  Also, to say that these are the most significant endorsements EVER is patently ridiculous.

Oprah's is groundbreaking simply because it's the first time she has actively become involved in a political campaign.  However, it would stand to reason that a powerful black person from Chicago would endorse the black Senator from Illinois.

Caroline Kennedy and Ted Kennedy are nice for the name recognition, however none of them mean anything and voters will not make their decision based on who Caroline or Ted like.

Kerry's a national joke.  He'll probably have the Al Gore endorsing Howard Dean effect.

For my money, the most significant endorsements ever were TR for Taft (otherwise we would've had President Jennings Bryant), Washington for Adams (otherwise TJ would've been the 2nd President), Adams for Madison (flipped on Federalists and joined Jefferson), Jesus Christ for GWBush (thanks God!), Oprah for Obama.

  I think that Rock is dead on about the Caroline Kennedy and Oprah Winfrey endorsements.  Ted Kennedy and John Kerry...not so much.  I could be wrong, but my impression is that Ted Kennedy has become a bit of a joke.   That being said, "Billary" sure would have loved his endorsement.  As for Kerry...maybe it's because I don't care for him that I do not see the value of his endorsement.  Maybe I am wrong.

As for Caroline Kennedy...IMHO...I think that this is BIG.   Many, many people have an emotional attachment to JFK and tuly admire and respect the woman that Caroline Kennedy has become.  I think Rock is right....Obama MUST exploit the words that she used.

  I have to disagree with JP.  First of all, I find your comment that it stands to reason that a powerful black person from Chicago would support another to be insulting and mildly racist.  Is this how white people do it?  One powerful white man endorses another powerful white man because well...they are both white and powerful?  If not, why would you say that such a thing applies when blacks are a part of the equation ?  Are white people the only free thinkers on this planet?  You diminish and insult Oprah specifically, and blacks in general when you fail to give her credit for endorsing someone for any reason other than the color of their skin.  

 That being said, Oprah's endorsement was powerful IMHO for two reasons.  First, she let women know that it was okay NOT to vote for Hillary.  She was also important because she let black people know that it was okay to vote for Obama.  I really do not think that people fully understand the hold that Bill Clinton HAD over black people.   People loved this man.  At least they used to. 

 As for having a section to comment about Rock's work, I don't get it.  Rock, if you are going to comment within the comment section of the posts of Stoned,why not just open your blog to comments? 

For the record, I also agree that Oprah and Carolyn Kennedy's endoresments are great for Barack, but John Kerry's is literally worthless, as in, not a single person will choose Barack over Hillary because of the endorsement, not a one. I don't really know what weight Teddy's has, I mean, maybe it will help in Mass.?

Carolyn's endorsement was very well written and heartfelt and I think it was the number 1 emailed story when I looked earlier today on NYTimes.com. Supposedly Gloria Steinham's endorsement of Hillary, which was also very hightly emailed, helped her NH.

A week from tomorow is going to be very exciting.
