Barry, I understand your general frustration, but you have picked some poor examples to illustrate your point. I agree that Bloomberg should not have defended Hevesi, but they are friends and that's what friends do. That's politics.
As much as I like Callaghan and think he'd make a great Comptroller, there is very little chance of him winning this election, even with a Bloomberg fundraiser. This is just going to be a Democratic year and we better start planning in NY for the future. You don't have to worry about that being in Tx now. :-)
As for Faso, every plan he has in bad for NYC. Why would Bloomberg support him? Out of some misguided sense of partisanship over common sense? If Faso had smarter policies that benefitted downstate instead of pandering to upstate maybe he'd be slighly competitive this year. He doesn't so he isn't. It's as simple as that.
