You are incredibly correct in saying that Mr. Barron will not be an appropriate/useful voice for the citizens of the 10th District, NYC or NY State in Congress.  Unfortunately, the Republicans control congress and therefore a "minority within a minority" must be able to bridge the partisan divide on issues to ensure his district is well looked after--it's just a simple fact.

Congressman Towns has been a voice of reason in Congress--all while earning a top 10 most liberal voting record for 24 straight years!  He has worked tirelessly on behalf of his constituents by helping draft countless pieces of legislation improving public health in our nation's cities, fighting for fair, enforceable immigration and living wage policies.

The funny thing is that because of his nature--as opposed to Two Buck Chuck and other politicians--he prefers to work behind the scenes and out of the limelight.  Again, unlike Two Buck Chuck (and by the way the most dangerous place to be is between T.B.C. and a TV camera or microphone!) he knows how to work the system (which means working with Republicans) to bring home projects that matter to the people.

Just ask the folks at Medgar Evers College about their new technology grants.  Go to the Marriot execs who worked with Mr. Towns to build the ONLY full service hotel in Brooklyn.  Ask Interfaith and Wyckoff Hospitals about the public health projects Mr. Towns has brought home to benefit constituents.

These are but a few examples of ET's work--and that leaves out his working with EPA to ensure Brooklynites got a fair share of air/lung tests that were originally going 100% to Manhattan in wake of 9/11.  It leaves out his work trying to get handguns off the streets of Brooklyn by fighting the NRA as a sub committee ranking member.  And yes, it leaves off the enterprise zone which now houses several big box stores and other development Mr. Towns garnered for Brooklyn.

Lastly, your blog also leaves out ET the dedicated family man.  Gwen Towns is still the love of his life and he's raised his entire family in Brooklyn.  They still go to public schools and are quite visible in the community.

It's all the rage to love Brooklyn now....it's got development and nice restaurants and the NBA is even coming to Brooklyn.  But Ed Towns was loving and caring for Brooklyn and it's people when very few outside the 718 area code did.  I hope the good people in Brooklyn will see him for what he really is--an opportunist of the worst kind.

Do the right thing--Vote Ed Towns--I will be!
