Great posting, "Ugh's" fairly lame comment aside.  It is exactly this kind of stuff that Americans need to know more about. Living in Japan and, far moreso, traveling in Europe, I realized how shallow our roots are here in America. That can be a good thing since shallow roots allow more mobility. But there is something awe inspiring looking at structures that go back thousands of years. The ruins of Hatussas in Turkey, the ruins on Santorini in Greece, and even the much more recent temples in Japan gave me a sense of history like I have never felt here in America.

 We do have history, and we need to cherish it more. Thanks for focusing on this.

Now to back up Bouldin in a way, we could use some of this kind of stuff on Daily Gotham and (nationally) on Culture Kitchen . COme on by and post. We should have asked you before.
