GOVERNOR SPITZER SIGNS SENATOR REVEREND RUBEN DIAZ’S BILLTO HELP SENIORS
(ALBANY) New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer has signed into law Bill
Number 3167 sponsored by Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx). This
new piece of legislation authorizes appropriations for Senior Citizen
pet companionship programs throughout New York State.
“I am very pleased that Governor Spitzer has signed this bill into law
so that we can continue to improve the lives of our senior citizens by
enhancing their emotional and mental well-being through companionship
with pets such as cats, dogs and other small animals,” stated Senator
Reverend Diaz, the Chair of the Senate Minority Task Force on Senior
Issues. “It is important for us to take whatever steps we can take to
protect, assist and improve the quality of life for our seniors.”
This law will become effective July 1, 2007.
