NYC Leaders Show Solidarity
for Mexican Civil Rights Advocate
"We Are All Elvira Arellano"

City Hall * Council Member Melissa Mark Viverito, Assembly Member Jose Rivera and several other concerned elected officials and advocates will hold a press conference at City Hall in order to show their support for the journey started by Elvira Arellano, a Mexican citizen who took sanctuary in an Methodist Church in Chicago, back in August 2006, to avoid the split-up of her family due to deportation.

Also attending the event will be Saulito Arellano, son of Elvira Arellano, Emma Lozano of the Centro Sin Fronteras in Chicago, and Rev. Walter Coleman, the pastor of the church in which Elvira Arellano sought sanctuary and lived in for the past year.
