'Rock star' Ball raises close to $400k in six months, as incumbent ponders, "Am I still the one?"

BREWSTER-New York State Assemblyman Greg Ball (R-Patterson) announced today that he raised an
impressive $192,831.22 in the third quarter of the year, which ended September 30, in the highly
competitive race for New York's 19th Congressional District.

"Another strong filing by Greg Ball is a key indicator that the grassroots backlash over the
reckless federal spending of the past decade has reached a boiling point, and it is now clear that
our party's campaign to change the representation in Washington, get spending in line and bring real
reform has every chance of success," said Dutchess County Republican Chairman Michael McCormack.

Ball's campaign to unseat one of the nation's most vulnerable House incumbents third quarter report
of over $190,000 is an improvement over his strong second quarter where he raised over $180,000,
with donors in all fifty states and the District Columbia donating to Greg Ball's surging campaign.

"Just prior to the filing deadline, Greg Ball was able to raise over $17,000 in one day via the
internet, and once again he has received contributions of less than $100 from over 1,500
individuals," said Orange County Republican Chairman William DeProspo. "Greg Ball has proven to
Orange County that he is a well-financed candidate who is the perfect fit for the Hudson Valley's
Republican brand, and I have every confidence we will be successful in taking back New York's 19th
in 2010."

In the past quarter, Ball was one of the only Republican challengers nationwide to raise more money
than his Democratic incumbent, besting the current Congressman in fundraising during the period of
May 1 - July 1, and raising 97% of his donations from individuals. The incumbent, meanwhile,
received almost 30% from Political Action Committees (PACs) and special interest groups.

During the third quarter, U.S. Representative Peter King headlined a fundraiser for Ball, as did
19th Congressional District native and former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer. Former
House Speaker Newt Gingrich signed a mail solicitation on his behalf.

"Greg Ball has been has synonymous with the message of smaller government and reform that has not
been seen in Washington since 1994," said Putnam County Republican Chairman Anthony Scannapieco.
"That message is in stark contrast to that of his opponent, and what I believe to be a driving
factor behind his grassroots, fiscal success, which I hope is a bellwether that Republicans are set
for a repeat of 1994 in 2010."

The race for the 19th congressional district, in the heart of New York's Hudson Valley, has already
garnered national attention and is considered a top pickup opportunity for Republicans in 2010 by
independent observers, including Congressional Quarterly, Roll Call, Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball and
the Rothenberg Political Report.
