NYC Council Speaker Quinn, Councilmember Rivera, Rosie Mendez, & Brewer to Attend Thursday Vaccine Drive
EVENTS: Beth Israel’s
Phillips Ambulatory Care Center (PACC) in Manhattan
and the Community Healthcare Network (CHN) in Long
Island City, Queens will hold free H1N1 vaccination drives for
community residents, particularly those from high-risk populations, on a
first come, first serve basis.
PACC
and the CHN are two of 18 designated community health center Points of Dispensing
Sites (PODS) that are vaccinating as many people as possible on designated
“vaccine days.” The PODS have seen substantial demand for the vaccine,
and are expected to vaccinate about 7,000 thousand New Yorkers primarily from
high-risk groups and low-income communities.
All
of the sites have strong ties to underserved communities and underwent special
emergency preparedness training from the
Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC) in collaboration with the NYC Department
of Health, with financial support from the NYC Council.
