Today New York Uprising announced that yesterday State Senator Craig M. Johnson, Assemblyman Jonathan Bing, Assemblywoman Grace Meng, State Senate Candidate Regina M. Calcaterra, Assembly Candidate Jeff Tobak and Assembly Canidate BK Keramati have all signed New York Uprising's pledges to reform Albany. Pledge singers to date include candidates for Governor, New York State Attorney General, New York State Comptroller, New York State Senate, New York State Assembly and Congress. New York Uprising pledges committing to bring reform to Albany. New York Uprising has sent pledges to all candidates for office in New York State. Congressional candidates have been asked to support non-partisan independent redistricting since they are affected by the lines drawn.

In recognizing these committed candidates Mayor Koch said:  "I applaud all of these candidates as true "Heroes of Reform" for signing the three New York Uprising pledges.  This year voters are counting on candidates to commit to specific reforms in advance, as these signers have done.  I look forward to working with them to see these reforms swiftly implemented should they be elected."

Upon signing the pledges Senator Craig M. Johnson said "If sunshine is the best disinfectant, then these common sense proposals are the solar flare that is needed to truly reform Albany. I am proud to be joining with Mayor Koch and the other members of NY Uprising to make sure that our state government is accountable to its residents and to no one else."

Assemblyman Bing said "I am pleased to join a movement to reinstate public trust in government and to affirm my commitment to good government principles.  These principles should be a priority for all elected officials, as it is for New York Uprising and myself."

Assemblywoman Meng said "When I first took office a little over a year ago, I did not promise to single-handedly reform Albany in one day. However, I did make a promise to the people of NY to do my best to make their government as accessible and transparent as possible.  Now, more than ever, the people of NY need to see and feel real change in their government - one that is led BY the people and FOR the people.  I am proud to join NY Uprising in their efforts to bring government BACK to the people"

Regina Calcaterra said "State government is a mess created by decades of bad decisions, self-dealing and the incumbent-protection system known as gerrymandering. These pledges represent an honest step toward improving New York's government, and I proudly sign my name to them"

Jeff Tobak said "Albany is severely broken, a "national disgrace" according to Andrew Cuomo. The 21-year incumbent I am running against is a big part of the problem. I am proud to stand with Mayor Koch and the NY Uprising in an attempt to remake NYS government."

BK Kermati said "This is a common sense pledge that will help assure New Yorkers that their legislators are working for them. Making this pledge is an obvious and responsible choice"
