FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 25, 2010CONTACT: 845-222-7499 MARYELLEN ODELL SAYS CORRUPTION COSTSOdell: To accomplish fiscal responsibility and accountabilitiy, corruption must be uncovered.MaryEllen Odell, candidate for Putnam County Executive, today commented on an Albany Times-Union article that reports federal agents may have begun a criminal investigation into Senator Vincent Leibell. "I know that corruption and greed has found a home in all levels of government in New York State," Odell said. "We have all been made aware through similar FBI investigations, that there has been criminal activity regarding the misuse of public funds and taxpayer dollars to often times fund private foundations and trusts by several Albany officials. The investigations seem to be ongoing and they are uncovering financial abuses that cost tax payers millions of dollars." "Public funds and taxpayer dollars are all too often used to control political agendas in many areas of government. Additionally, we have seen some elected officials misuse their office for personal gain. Joe Bruno wrote the playbook that too many elected officials follow." Though she chooses to focus on fiscal solutions in her campaign for County Executive, Odell has long condemned the personal agendas she has seen from the State's elected officials, including when she spoke at the April 15 Tea Party on the steps of the Putnam County Courthouse. “Ethics, morality common sense and decency no longer have the majority in Albany. They have been replaced by corruption, greed, and self preservation. If we do not demand to be heard, Albany will not listen. If we continue to behave like sheep we will continue to be fleeced," Odell said. ### Members of the Press Unsubscribe govwire@r8ny.com from this list. Copyright (C) 2010. All rights reserved.
