 “GUJARAT DAY” proclaimed in New York State Assembly

Albany, New York. – On Wednesday, June 9th 2010 New York State Assembly Proclaimed “Gujarat Day” commemorating 50th Anniversary of the State of Gujarat.  This
historic event will be forever engraved with gold in the hearts and
minds of Non-resident Gujaratis and Gujaratis worldwide alike.

On May 1st 1960 the great state of Gujarat was given statehood and in year 2010, Gujarat state completed 50th year of statehood.  More
than 250,000 Gujaratis resides in New York State and Gujaratis
comprises more than 40% of Indian American population overall.
Gujaratis have greatly contributed their entrepreneurial nature in
America in retail business and professional services.  Gujarat has contributed lot to India & to world by the great soul of ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ who  is considered  father of Nation, by his non-violence principle achieved independence  of India and also inspired Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and many World leaders.

 Recognizing
the contribution of Gujarati’s in in New York State and America in
various fields, Honorable Assembly Members Rory Lancman, Grace Meng,
and David Weprin proclaimed “Gujarat Day” by offering proclamation to
Mr. Dilip Chauhan and other Gujarati Community Leaders in presence of
more than 100 Assembly Members. First time in the history of United
States of America, State Assembly proclaimed “Gujarat Day” during
running Assembly.

On
this historic and joyous occasion Assemblyman Rory Lancman said, “I am
honored to represent members of the Gujarati community.  Gujarati
Americans have contributed greatly to the state of New York both by
strengthening the economy as business owners and by enriching our
culture by sharing their traditions.  I am pleased to
welcome Dilip Chauhan and the Gujarati Community of New York to our
state Capitol, and I look forward to our continuing partnership".

Dilip
Chauhan – south Asian community leader, on receiving “Gujarat Day”
proclamation, stated “I am very proud and honor to receive “Gujarat
Day” Proclamation from of New York State Assembly and Assembly members
during current session while discussing your busy budget. This
Proclamation is not only proud of Gujaratis in USA but 55 million
Gujaratis in India. This kind of event will definitely bring borders of
country together. This event will also strengthen the relationship of
New York and Gujarat State.” Mr. Chauhan invited Assembly Members to
send their official delegation to Gujarat. Mr. Chauhan also urged Assembly Members to put
in place a "sister state" arrangement between New York and Gujarat to
further strengthen business and social ties between the two regions,
particularly in areas like IT, infrastructure, education and
healthcare.  He also praised progress of Gujarat under the leadership of Shri Narendrabhai Modi.

Dr.
Vitthal Dhaduk, Albert Jasani, H. R. Shah of TV Asia, Sunil Nayak,
Suresh Jaani, Manikant Patel, R. D. Patel, Hiru Patel, Sudhir Vaishnav
of Sahara TV, Virendra Patel, Jitendra Parekh, Kirit Patel, Shubhash
Kapadia,  Shobhana Patel, Ranjan Dhaduk graced this historic event by their presence. 

Dr. Vitthal Dhaduk and Suresh Jaani were instrumental in bringing the community leaders together for this event.  Dr.
Dhaduk commended Assembly members for this generous and gracious
Proclamation of “Gujarat Day” which will definitely bring two great
states, Gujarat and New York of two great democracies closer.

Albert
Jasani – Organizer of Police Unity Tour in America and owner of Royal
Albert Palace commended Dilip Chauhan’s efforts to celebrate “Gujarat
Day” in Albany –NYS Assembly.

Manikant
Patel – President of Gujarati Samaj of New York and other committee
members R. D. Patel, Hiru Patel was overjoyed with pride being part of
this memorable event. They recollected their past memories of
tirelessly working for Gujarati community in the Northeast region for
about 25 years.

On
this occasion Mr. Virendra Patel while talking with Mr. Rory Lancman
praised Gujarat Progress under present administration and how the
Gujaratis are industrious and have zeal of entrepreneurship.

Sunil
Nayak – President of AINA and Subhash Kapadia – President of JHMA was
overjoyed and brimming with pride during the celebration of “Gujarat
Day” in the Assembly. 

All
the community leaders present were very appreciative and praised Dilip
Chauhan to take lead and coordinating this historic event of bringing
light to the achievements of the State of Gujarat and Gujarati
community in front of New York State Assembly members.

Mr.
Dilip Chauhan heartily thanked all the honorable Assembly Members for
bestowing “Gujarat Day” Proclamation during the golden jubilee year of
Gujarat and Gujarati community Leaders for their graceful presence.
