DiNapoli: Thruway Authority Increases Gas Price Monitoring

The State Thruway Authority has cracked down on gas stations that New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli discovered were overcharging motorists, according to a follow-up audit released last Friday. The initial audit was issued in April 2009 and examined gas pricing at Thruway travel plazas.

DiNapoli Launches "Financial Soccer" Interactive Game

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli joined in the excitement of the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday by launching Financial Soccer
, an educational video game developed in partnership with Visa Inc. and the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to help educate young people about personal finance. The game can be played through DiNapoli's Your Money New York web site

DiNapoli Releases May 2010 Pension Fund Report; Fund Closes 11 Transactions Totaling $22.4 Million

The $132.6 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund in May closed 11 transactions totaling a combined $22.4 million, according to a monthly transaction report State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli released last Friday.

Audit on Bulk Oil Fees and Penalties Shows DEC Could Have Collected $9 Million

The state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) could have potentially collected nearly $9 million in petroleum bulk storage registration fees and penalties from facilities with expired registrations and other violations, according to an audit released on Tuesday by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

City of Amsterdam - Internal Controls Over Cash Receipts (Montgomery County); Coram Fire District - Internal Controls Over Financial Activities and Information Technology (Suffolk County); and Village of Holley - Water Operations (Orleans County).

DiNapoli Releases Bond Calendar For Third Quarter

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli last Friday announced a tentative schedule for the planned public sale of obligations for the State, its major public authorities, the City of New York, and the City's major public authorities during the third quarter of 2010.
