Not Just Charlie!

The Politicker reported a few weeks back that Charlie King had failed to maintain his law license for a while, which might pose a problem when one is running for the state's über lawyer. Well it turns out that it's not just Charlie. The New York Law Journal reported today that more than half of the A.G. wannabees have had, ahem, issues with renewing their licenses.

NYLJ essentially repeats Ben's post about Charlie citing "a political blog, maintained by the New York Observer" (nice plug, not). It seems that whet their appetite, though, so they looked into the others' records.

Richard, it seems, considered himself retired from the law when he ran for the assembly but:

 As soon as he resumed practicing law in 1995, Mr. Brodsky said he took steps to pay the fee. But when he contacted OCA, he was told he might be considered to have been practicing during the intervening years because he had taught as an adjunct professor at St. John's University School of Law and at Pace Law School... Mr. Brodsky said he decided "not to fight and paid the retroactive fee."

Sean Patrick has a pretty good excuse:

Mr. Maloney's registration was noted in OCA's records as just a couple of weeks past the 10-month mark. Mr. Maloney attributed the problem to bureaucratic delays in the White House.  

It's not just the Dems, though, it wasn't just Page 10 that Jeanine forgot:

[She] filed her registration for the 1990-1991 cycle 11 months after her birthday, according to OCA records.

At the time Ms. Pirro was a County Court judge, which exempted her from the fee requirement but not from the registration requirement.  

Andrew was also technically slightly late once, but it was dated within the grace period and processed late.

Kudos to Andrew, Mark and Denise for filing on time. Maybe someone will mention this at the Greater Voices Forum Tuesday night.

Seems to me that Cuomo that should get an A- at most.

looks like the three who got A's are the three who are going to be serious candidates......    kinda weird considering this isn't even a real issue.
