Dominic Carter700 public school workers gone, victims of budget cuts and the blame game

Who's right and who is wrong. Herman Cain vs Morgan Freeman on Tea Party & Racism
Presidential candidate Herman Cain takes issue with actor Morgan Freeman calling Tea Party Racist.
The Republican presidential candidate called the Oscar-winning actor’s remarks “short-sighted.” "Most of the people that are criticizing the Tea Partiers about having a racist element, they have never been to a Tea Party," Cain told Fox News. Bad night for the White House. Turner takes congressional seat
Democrat David Weprin had stayed away from embracing President Obama, but Republican Bob Turner effectively tied Obama around Weprin’s neck, and it worked.
We now know at this point President Obama will not have political coattails, and could drag down democrats in next years national and state races. With their attacks on Obama, Cornell West and Tavis Smiley need to go somewhere and sit down!!!
With this one, I have seen it all now.
Famed Princeton University professor Cornell West and Broadcaster Tavis Smiley need to be seriously ashamed of themselves. They have completed a week-long, 14-city “Poverty Tour” which highlighted the plight of America’s poor and directly critiqued President Obama for failing to stand up for them.
A Deal in Washington, but political drama is just beginning
This is a very important short term solution, but the political argument over the federal debt is far from over.
For one thing, Congress as a whole must still vote to approve the agreement -- and for another, the deal creates a new congressional committee to tackle the age-old debate over federal debt and spending. Race for NYC Mayor. Bill Thompson, Christine Quinn, or Police Commissioner Ray Kelly
The other night appearing on TV, RNN, host Richard French with seconds left to go threw a question to me, a hand grenade for NYC Politics. French asked me about the race for mayor.
A few thoughts on this Sunday
A City Mourns. Our hearts are with the family of Leiby Kletzky, the 8-year-old Brooklyn boy who got lost while walking home alone from day camp in his Orthodox Jewish neighborhood and was killed and dismembered by a stranger he had asked for directions. Leiby’s remains were found stuffed in a trash bin and the man's refrigerator, police said last week. The suspect, Levi Aron has been charged with murder.
Is Obama in trouble
The good news for President Obama, or any sitting president, the power of incumbency is very tough to win against, and Republicans are having a tough time with their field of candidates. However the bad news: the worst kept secret is Obama’s base is not energized (he will need each and every single vote) and consider the horrible jobs report Friday which shows history is not on Mr. Obama’s side.
A few thoughts on this Sunday from Jeter to a Obama/Cuomo Ticket
Mr. 3000/Derek Jeter Congrat's to Yankees Captain Derek Jeter for his historic 3,000th hit. There’s a lesson for all of us in Jeter’s success. One of perseverance and determination.
Are NYPD "Perp Walks" on the way out
Horrible treatment. USPS turns its back on employee caring for Disabled Daughter
6,100 Teachers. Looks like Bloomberg wasn't bluffing, but will the Council stand up to him?
Historically, layoffs are often threatened as a budgetary bargaining chip. In other words, the mayor basically yells what amounts to “fire” in a crowded theater, and more often than not, the money surfaces from the State or Washington, and the bad news is avoided. (layoffs in this case) However this time, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is not bluffing, and for the first time since the 1970’s, public school teachers are looking at pick slips. A loss of 6,166 teachers, including an anticipated 4,100 layoffs.
Rev. Sharpton, President Obama & the Black vote. Has obama delivered?
If you don’t believe Al Sharpton is emerging as “the president” of black America, just look at who’s speaking Wednesday at his annual National Action Network conference: President Barack Obama.
Timing is important. The nation’s first black president has largely finessed the topic of race. But Obama is now facing growing criticism from some African-American leaders that he lacks a “black agenda.”
You will be missed Geraldine Ferraro
A strong argument could be made if there were no Geraldine Ferraro, there would be no Hillary Clinton or Sara Palin.
Mr. Mayor, it's not looking good. Your Legacy is on the line
With the bad news this week for NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg--his lowest approval rating in eight years at just 39 percent, the Mayor’s Spokesman Stu Loeser says quote:
“The mayor is making tough choices in a difficult time, which is what people elected him to do.”
