Councilman Addabbo's racist comments broadcast on WABC report

"The victim is the cause of the attack on him by his white neighbors"
Is anyone else very upset that a public official in this day and age can say what Councilman Joe Addabbo said, and not be held accountable for his bigoted remarks? In this WABC video, Addabbo blames a minority family who bought their home in Addabbo's district of Howard Beach, "for being responsible for the hate crimes" launched against him by their white neighbors. The Daily News reported that the police who instituted the charges characterized the incident, where Addabbo acted like a racist thug, as "something from the Deep South, circa 1950."
"It's something out of the Deep South, or the backwoods, circa 1950," a police source said.

REFLECTING: DO ALL POLITICIANS DESERVE OUR THANKS? ADDABBO DOESN'T!

God created us in his own likeness, and we should all love and respect each other. We are all created equal.
America is a nation of immigrants, and leaders of the free world. We have an obligation to set the standards for human rights and civil liberties for the world to follow. That is why, as right thinking citizens, regardless of our creed, race, religion or preferences, we must demand that Councilman Joe Addabbo, Community Board 10's Chairperson Betty Braton and staff stop their coordinated harassment aimed at driving the Gounden family from Howard Beach, stop blaming this family for the attacks upon them, cease the attempts to  undermine the judicial process by saying that the neighbor charged is innocent of the hate crimes, and actually condemn bias crimes against anyone-regardless of who they are. After all, we are a nation of laws.
Put yourself in the Gounden family's position, which has 2 infant babies, one of whom was born prematurely, and is dependent on medical care to survive. As a constituent and tax payer, how would you feel if your own Councilman (Joe Addabbo), is indicting you, terrorizing you and actually trespassing on your property, telling you that he will not allow you to enjoy your own property-bought and paid for by your hard earned money, driving you into bankruptcy and nightmares. If this what America stands for? Surely not!
