10thSlothman Cometh: An Elegy on the Candidate Kevin Powell
It's been some time since last I posted, due to turmoil in the markets and a need for me to focus on my non-blog life. But as the Democratic Primary is over, I thought I'd offer a final word. Kevin Powell, lately contender to be Brooklyn's Congressman in the 10th, officially lost his bid to unseat 13-time incumbent, Edolphus"Ed" Towns, by a whopping 67% to 33%. Now, Kevin Powell has let us know what he thinks. He's posted a "Post-Election Statement" to the voters on his website here: http://www.kevinpowellforcongress.com/
*** UPDATED: Powell and FEC, Numbers are (Finally) In ***
So, I recently received the following message from the Kevin Powell for Congress campaign and felt compelled to post it in the interests of my earlier claim to disclose all communications (see this: Kevin Powell Missed FEC Filing Date). So here was the official communication I received from the KP4C campaign: "Oh, and by the way, just about the FEC stuff, we had a slight miscommunication with the FEC but managed to resolve it (and if you notice the FEC website: http://fec.gov/DisclosureSearch/mapHSCandDetail.do?detailType=cand&cand_id=H6NY10093&category=searchCand&searchKeyword=POWELL), our most recent financial report is there."

*** UPDATE *** So, wrote this but then found more interesting news. According to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Powell is not an official candidate and is soliciting donations in violation of FEC regulations. They have also issued the equivalent of a "cease and desist" letter to the Kevin Powell for Congress campaign. See my latest post for more (including the original letter): http://www.r8ny.com/blog/slothman8888/exclusive_powell_violating_the_fec.html
Kevin Powell faces The Real World *** FOLLOW-UP ***
I wanted to send an interesting follow-up to close something that I had raised last week. You may recall an original posting that had appeared on the Kevin Powell for Congress campaign blog last week (see: http://www.kevinpowellforcongress.org/featured_blogs2/2008/08/13/i-got-a-story-to-tell/). Last week I took serious offense at this arrogant attack and posted a thread here on R8NY (see: http://www.r8ny.com/blog/slothman8888/kevin_powell_likes_demeaning_teenagers_exclusive.html) which then became a hot thread mainly due to responses left by a few workers from Powell (Gene Johnson, Michael Spitzer-Rubenstein, and Powell's Campaign Manager, Erica Perkins), from Towns, as well as several voters.
