Monday's "El Rushbo to New York: Drop Dead" should be read in its entirety. Limbaugh is based in both Florida and New York City, but he's thinking of eliminating his NYC operations and moving to a no-income-tax state like...Texas!

"When I am there working I pay whatever, you know, my rate is based on income for that day in New York.  And I try to go as little as possible. If it weren't for hurricanes down here, I would never go up there.  New York is the escape valve in case hurricanes are showing up in our area, because of the loss of electricity.  So I'll tell you what I'm going to do.  I'm going to look for an alternative studio somewhere outside New York, perhaps Texas -- another no-income-tax state -- and I'm going to get the hell over there, when a hurricane starts coming our way, 'cause I told Mayor Bloomberg: I'll be the first to lead the way.  You know, this is just... I'll sell my apartment. I'll sell my condominium. I'm going to get out of there totally, 'cause this is just absurd, and it's ridiculous -- and it isn't going to work. It's punishing the achievers for the mistakes and the lack of discipline on the part of a bunch of corrupt politicians that have run that city and state into the ground for I don't know how many years -- and I, for one, am not going to take the blame for it."

Unlike noted fabulist Jacob Gershman, now of the NY Post, Dan Janison of Newsday writes a decent political analysis of the governor's proposed budget.   I only take issue with the penultimate paragraph that quotes an unnamed Paterson source:

"He has said he does not want to raise taxes," the source said. "A lot of millionaires have been laid off. The quickest way to continue the repopulation of Florida and South Carolina and North Carolina is to pass the millionaires' tax. That will ensure that in the next census the state will be fourth in population, rather than first as it was in 1980."

The new state taxes are here! Just in time for Christmas!

You must realize two things: (1) once imposed, all of these taxes will be with New Yorkers forever, at increasingly higher rates; and (2) the people who have already profited from the system will make little or no concessions. Pay up, you working suckers still left in New York State!

Gov. David Paterson is going after people who wear fur. Did PETA write this tax? Because buying a synthetic garment made out of toxic chemicals is much better for us all.

Story #5: New Yorkers, Californians Should Consider Moving
 
RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, as you know (and I have mention this had before) I had a fashionable apartment in New York in the Upper East Side.  I'm seriously considering selling it.  I have owned it since 1994.  I love it.  It was second home that I ever bought in my life. I stay there whim rarely in New York.  I am "rarely" in New York because I get audited by New York State and City every year starting in 1997, when I moved to Florida; and it's become a hassle that I could tolerate, but it may now become stupid to own any property there. 
  
"Mayor Michael Bloomberg is going to cut the city work force by 3,000, but that's just the beginning of the pain New Yorkers will feel as part of the fiscal crisis. A slew of new taxes are also on the agenda. There will be 1,000 fewer cops..." Now, listen to this -- and this is a liberal mayor. This is a blue city. This is Bloomberg. He's an independent. He was a Republican, but he chose Republican only to get elected after Giuliani left.  "There will be 1,000 fewer cops but the city will hire 200 more traffic agents to give out $60 million a year in new [parking] tickets."  They're laying off cops and adding meter maids.  The quality of life in New York is just going to blossom, isn't it?  Lay off a thousand cops and hire 200 more traffic agents for the purposes of collecting $60 a year in "block-the-box tickets"?
